I'd send them back. Leather reclining sofas are almost always bulky, and most don't stay comfortable for very long. They also tend to just dominate a space visually. It will take some searching to find non-heavy looking reclining sofas, but know that these tend not to have a long lifespan or at least don't stay very comfortable forever.

how about furniture with slipcovers so you can wash them when eating gets out of hand. provide napkins.

If they were mine, I would return them. They are too big and bulky for the room and way too dark. Buy something that is comfortable for seating. The rug you have is a neutral.

I hate those things. In this case, they suck all the light out of the room. Yes, send them back.

in general, it's very hard to work with these, because they are too bulky, don't have good proportions, and don't provide some great extra amazing comfort either. You'll sacrifice nothing when exchanging them for something better proportioned, but you'll gain a lot. Just make sure to sit on whatever it wil be first. Try it-sofas and chairs are very personal, depending on someone's height etc.

(I also have free eating policy in our family/library room, where TV lives(and I live too, a lot. lol)-while I'm very tired of leather, and would love to have velvet for example-it's more forgiving of course. You can go for a color that you love-makes for happy compromises with oneself. )

Jordan's is a great store but honestly anything in dark leather or sectional should have to be signed off on by houzz commenters before it can be purchased. ; )

(check out Macy's..won't be best ever yet will be good enough. Right now for example they have leather in navy..would be pretty with your colors. They have ivory. They have a lot-some look worse, some look better and get good reviews too. Many styles. Look at their "living room" section on their website..

They have good prices..I mean comparatively to some other stores that are not superior in quality but charge more anyway)

Return them. No amount of tweaking the room will fix 'em.

I'd return them, go for a lighter color like the cognac in a more streamline look. I'm not a fan of sitting on leather but I like the look. I always bought sofas and had slipcovers made to change out for seasons.

Send them back if they aren’t comfortable. Then keep looking. I like the piece pictured above but you really want comfort first.

Dated, bulky, dark. These are a big no for me.

I love the Makenna, and was going to order it but got the Phoebe (in a non-reclining version) because I like to stretch out on the couch and the arm profile was more comfortable, that @pricklypearcactus posted. Mine is extremely comfortable and you cannot beat the La-Z-Boy lifetime guarantee on the recliner mechanism. Of course that guarantee does not cover fabric or cushions but you can add lifetime to that, too. I have been through the La-z-boy recliner refurb process and it's pretty painless. If you can wait for custom they have some pretty amazing fabrics but their in stock stuff can be very nice.

I called Jordan's and they will come in a week to take the sofas back.

I am attaching some pictures of my living room/ dining room. There is a TV at the corner which because of the cable outlet, has to remain there. We also have a red brick fireplace. I hope designers can help with decorating this room. In the pictures, you will see the two brown sofas that will be gone. Also we have an ottoman , a chair and love seat from our old set (burgundy leather). They are in pretty good shape specially chair and ottoman look like new. One thought that I have, is keeping the chair and buying two sofas (or a sofa and a love seat) may be in gray fabric or leather and replace the two brown recliners. Designers, does this work? Since this is the room that we use the most, leather seems to be a better choice and easier to clean.

We need ideas for the layout, sofa/ love seats/ chair, coffee table, other accessories. Also we have a dark red Persian carpet that stays.

Can you do a floorplan with dimensions?

I hate most recliners, especially leather recliner sofas as they really are always so overwhelming no matter what you do. However my husband really wanted a recliner and in leather. As we are big movie watchers I understood it was his need for comfort and functionality. I ended up doing 2 pecan leather swivel recliners that can face the conversation area(facing away from the tv) when we are entertaining and can be swiveled to watch tv otherwise. I am in the middle of moving so furniture is between 2 spaces but I’ll see if I have pics. I also am working around a large traditional rug.

The dining table actually was placed the other direction before, but since we already had a sofa, love seat when they brought the new set, I temporarily changed dining table direction to fit our old set around it. The ugly shelf with shoe boxes on top (old family VHS in them!!:)) will go away too. Turning the TV table makes it hard for people who sit on the seating perpendicular to fireplace, and that is why we put it in an angle in the corner. I am trying to find sofas that look nice and also comfortable. Should we get a complete set (sofa, love seat, chair) or can I keep for example my old red chair and buy a sofa and a love seat.

Quick mockup, hard to do without actual dimensions. But I would only have one sofa, then do multiple chairs. I’m just showing 2 recliners here but you can probably still have one under the window like you show in your pic,

Select recliners that you both love that do not have a ton of stuffing in them.....there are may options out there that are very comfy.....Lazy Boy and Ethan Allen both have nice ones....take a book with you and sit in the recliner and read for about 20 minutes until you find the ones you like....they need not match in style or color as long as they look good together and are balanced; also consider electric recliners; they are quiet and are smooth and so easy to use if you are ever physcally impaired and need to rest and relax....then find the sofa, but first get the chairs so they are opposite the TV for the best viewing and then select a fabric sofa and so one......if you love your rug you can select navy blue or yellow or a natural leather tan and it will look wonderful, the select paint from other color in the rug that is light in nature.....cream, yellow, pale grey or blue, etc.

Below are all recliners in various design patterns.....take you time in selecting and love what you choose! It is an investment in a few hours every day in the recliner and you should both be comfortable.....Lazy boy does a great job and they last a long time; I sold them in the past and they did a great job on design, custom covers in leather and fabric, and price points.....you can splurge on the recliners and then go economical on the rest of the room......good luck and take your time and be courteous to each other in your selections, and have fun.....they can be so comfy and not bulky at all!

Consider using only one two-seat sofa (w/or w/o reclining feature) and individual recliner(s) and/or wing back chair(s) w/matching ottoman. If you do that, you could go solid color dark w/one piece and pattern fabric and/or lighter color(s) with others.

That lounge chair suggested by Jillian Rivera and Susan Davis do look good but I sat in one very similar to it that first one (different brand) and it wasn't comfortable to sit in without the ottoman or even particularly comfortable to sit in with the ottoman … so … do sit in whatever you buy before buying it.
