crushed ankle, anyone dealt with this?
Comments (24)Hi Donny, I'm going through something very similar. I broke my leg right at the ankle on March 16 so Monday it will be six weeks. I also have been absolutely immobile and I really don't know how long it is going to be. In my case I was taken to the local hospital where they botched the operation so I went to the Yale medical practice and had the head of orthopaedic surgery of the Yale Medical School try to fix it. I had a raging bone infection and nearly lost the lower leg and might very well have if I had not been proactive on my own behalf. The surgeon at Yale said he was appalled at what had been done to me. The hardest part is not being able to do anything and in my case not being able to take care of my totally disabled wife. She needs 24/7 care and I provided over half of it so now we have had to hire a bunch of people including for all night because she needs to go to the bathroom at least once during the night, something I always helped her with. I have no one to drive me around because our live in nurse doesn't drive and my kids are not available. Thankfully we have one close friend who has helped and my daughter has just come back from California to help. I bought a little scooter to get around outside to supervise the huge amount of work that the property requires this time of year not to mention the rose garden with 280 roses. As soon as I finish this I am going outside as there are workers here today. One thing you learn is how much work you do and how much it would cost if you had to pay people to do it for you. I hope you are getting along. I'm guessing that I am in for at least three months more of this before I can be able to do what I could before. The doctor has told me I should be good as new except for a very weak ankle. Good luck to both of us, Henry...See MoreMy feet hurt
Comments (17)hey girls! Aspen, sounds like we have a lot in common, too. At least our feet do! My feet seem to be the same size, but I think they have gotten wider. Not that trying to find size 11 shoes to fit my ski-length feet was hard enough...now I have to find them in WIDE! All of a sudden, any time I wear closed toed shoes, I get these horribly painful ingrown toenails, on a lot of my toes, at least 4 right now, so I have to wear open toed shoes. It sucks and if you have ever had an ingrown toenail you know they are so annoying! I guess I am allowed to be whiny in my old age b/c I am a whopping 25 yrs old! Oh, also, my little one's name is Logan, too!! He was born on September 12th...the day after the attacks! I was surprised to see his name on your post b/c it isn't that common, but I love that someone else liked it enough to name their son that, too! Best wishes to you, your little Logan, AND your feetsies! Andrea (and Logan!)...See MoreWalking Shoes (but not that kind) for Travel
Comments (14)I just found amazing sneakers at Costco! I bought a pair in black and ordered them also in gray(although they look more silver) because I liked them so much. I then ordered two more to save as it is so difficult for me to get comfortable shoes. They are the Puma Vikky Mesh. I ordered 1/2 size up. I was able to try them on in the store so my usual shoe size was too small. 1/2 up was great. I think they look cute with leggings, ankle jeans, and shorts. ETA: I have a small, wide foot with a high arch, so finding comfortable sneakers and shoes is a feat (pun intended) for me....See MoreSafe travels, Mtn!
Comments (65)Yes, they did a blood test and said no gout. However, I read this: Blood tests to measure levels of uric acid can support a diagnosis of gout, but cannot confirm it. This is because it is possible for people with gout to have normal levels of uric acid, especially during an attack. It may well have been a bite or sting, but if it was that she never noticed it and there was nothing visible. I think it was gout because it was the top of her foot, right over the joint of the big toe, and nowhere else. That is where it usually presents. It is so oddly specific. Also really the amount of food pushed on us was crazy. Like cruises almost....See MoreDYH
