I recently redid my 15-year-old DD's room and have seen several makeovers on this forum as well. Each is as individual as the girls whose rooms they are. Since often girls this age have very distinct taste, but don't know how to put it all together or see how all the various choices work together, what really helps is to find some inspiration pictures and work from that. A good place to start is with bedding: PB teen is a great resource for ideas; but often similar items can be found for less at JC Penney's, Bed Bath & Beyond as well as Target and Walmart. Check their websites for best selection. Look at solutions for dorm rooms to get ideas as well, though late summer/early fall is best time for this. Think about your daughter's storage and study needs and take those into consideration to see if you need to change augment her furniture. I am so grateful for all of the advise I've received so far. I have a brief description of my problem to keep from posting a long post, but I've noticed it would have answered a few questions. The photos with the brown paint room was taken from the realtor's site when I first moved in. None of that was my furniture. I've been living in my guest bedroom until I figure out what to do. I've painted that room twice and hated it. It is now green and bare as shown in the photo . Green was even worse than the tanish/pink I had (I know, don't ask lol). I've since repainted my living room which is the gray paint. My living room shows the current color scheme. Right behind my sofa is a builtin nook which also has the same color scheme. I bought a used bed canopy bed that I originally wanted to chalk paint white; however, I've recently had a mind change to purchase a round bed in rose (perferred) or gray. The canopy bed is also pictured. So basically I'm starting fresh, with no bedding or colors. I did imagine painting my baseboards and molding gray with whitish wall paint. and possibly use white accessories to blend in a rose colored bed... Just a thought... I'd hate too much gray by adding a gray bed but maybe I cant see it. Once again, I appreciate all of your help..

Is this chair going to be used as a reading chair or more for looks and something to sit in to put shoes on?? If it doesn't need to be highly functional I would have fun with it and get something that is more sculptural and a design inspiration. If that's the goal then I wouldn't worry about color and just find something amazing. If you need something with a bit of function, how about a Eames lounger knock off...

To make the transition with the too wide headboard and your windows I'd recommend drapery panels to back up the setting. You'll see is the other photo I selected a tufted headboard that stepped down on the sides so there isn't such a barrier to the back windows and I still added drapery panels. Too many 90 degree corners with the tray-tray ceiling and the saying above the bed and the headboard so I have eliminated some of them with a sunburst mirror or arch of some type over the headboards. I know that people insist on fans, but I have replaced all my ceiling fans with air shower fans that I can hide in the corner of the room or behind a piece of furniture. I'm able to use ceiling lights, the air shower fans are not as drying as sleeping under a ceiling fan and the air is still circulated.
