Need help deciding on art and area rug
Comments (12)I like the first rug and the third one. I don’t think a lighter rug will make that much difference in the lightness of your room, but I do like the last one posted above. About the art, I don’t think it’s too big, but your pic shows it more horizontal. Will you have to flip it to fit in that space? If so, maybe looks for something else that will fit as it’s meant to be hung?...See MoreArtwork and Area Rug dilemma...
Comments (4)I think going with an over dyed rug may be a good compromise. you still get the color, but not the busy pattern Pick one or two of the art color, and bring in the rug to match. the burgundy/violet one on the far right has multiple shades, but they're very discreet. it plays w/the artwork well, but doesn't compete w/it. same w/this one You want something in the Red/Violet range of colors (if going w/the purple theme) all 3 of these are red-violets. if you want to go the blue / green route, then go w/that shade. accent w/the other colors if you wanted to use the rugs you picked, then everything else in that room would need to be very similar and solid. otherwise, it would be a circus. also too, if the rug/art are in close proximity, then let one be the star. If the art is across the room from the rug, you can do something a bit busier. But the other items in the room are playing back-up only. just keep that in mind. dusty lavenders are pretty too...See MoreHELP!!! Art work placement plus Entryway console
Comments (33)I have no help to add about the art but I do love the colorful rug @celery showed I the last post. Something dramatic with that gorgeous green in it will tie the room together. Your dining table is stunning! And the green chairs are a happy surprise ( most dining rooms have all chairs the same)....See MoreI don’t know if art work or a mirror is better on the buffet wall ?
Comments (13)I agree that the rug is much too small as well as dark. The tones are taking away from the distinct table base and the coordinating chair legs. As an admitted minimalist, I'd have no rug there or one that's the same color as the floor but textural. The floors are beautiful. Given the many hard reflective surfaces, I think a mirror would be too much and would prefer a textural art piece. The height can't be greater than what's there now due to the vent. Although I really like the candlestick lamps below, it may look cluttered due to the glass cabinet close to the sideboard....See MoreUser
