Any experience with French Connection by Garrison? - white oak
Comments (12)We love it, and we are a 2 kid, 2 big dog family who is active and lives near the beach. No fading, no problems and it has worn well, given we have not done the proper maintenance- it looks great. In 2015, we used Garrison French Connection in the Oak Caffe color on the ground floor of our house. We had it professionally installed on our concrete foundation, and our installers were meticulous on the prep: they ground down the high spots and then applied a self leveling compound and then glued the floor. This floor has different finishes depending on the color. The caffe has a natural oil finish rather than an aluminum oxide finish, so you're walking on the wood rather than the urethane finish. Likewise, if you scratch it or track in sand, it’s going to wear the wood rather than the urethane. We chose it because it’s easier to hide the scratches. There’s pros and cons to both finishes. If you’re a dog owner, do your research before committing. If i had it to do over again, i would have choosen a little less maintenamce: the same floor in a natural color with the oxide finish, where the light color would not show bad scratches as much as the dark wood, and I could use more potent cleaners to get up pet accidents without stripping the oil finish off. But we also love what we have. so much so, we are now replacing the carpeted stairs and the upstairs carpet with this same floor. 1st picture is after install, the next one is 7 yrs later....See MoreDog Door for French Doors
Comments (1)Find a door that you like and check with the manufacturer on the option of a factory Doggie door. If not, any good carpenter can put one in a wood/fiberglass/steel door. If you want to get a full view glass door with or without grids...that will take some more modification, however, is still doable....See Morefrench dog or boston terrier?
Comments (4)It's wonderful for you to get your son his own dog. The adolescent and teen years can be a "roller coaster ride" emotionally, and I think having a pet is beneficial for kids this age. I agree with the above post, be sure to check out your breed carefully, especially health issues. We have a Westie; he sheds very little, weighs about 15 lbs. and needs daily exercise. I suppose any dog you choose will play with your dogs, which is a good way to let some of that energy go. Did you consider a rescue, or do you think a pup will bond more easily with your son? Best wishes on your choice. Your son must be very excited....See MoreBest realistic looking French oak LVP?
Comments (21)I thought the high end LVP looked good 5-7 years ago, but ended up going with engineered wood. But recently I was in a quality flooring store (not a big box, not a discount chain), and I have to say, the graphics of the wood-look LVP were pretty amazing. Have you all seen it lately? For such a big purchase, where installation is sometimes(often, where I live) more $$ than the product, I'd go up a couple notches in quality, and not shop at the chains....See MoreMrs. S
