Guess what's going on in my house!? Dreams happening!
Comments (39)bbtrix, I always promise those and never deliver. I think it's because I have so much crap everywhere. I keep telling myself when x is done and I can put all the xx away, I'll take pictures. But small details get in the way. Like the other pile of crap I moved to get x#2 done, which caused pile of crap #3. But I'll try. Remember, maybe? I had a whole revelation about my life style after a marathon hoarders binge watch. I realized in order to not squeeze by cabinets on the kitchen floor, I needed to INSTALL them. Along with other things like that. That the difference between the Hoarders and me was... NOTHING. I had all the "projects" they talked about and never did. So, after identifying myself with them and having a lasting moment of horror, I got back on my horse and started working on things. That's also when I started selling everything I could get my hands on on CL. So no pics at this time, but I'll try!...See MoreWhy I built my own house- Chapter 27
Comments (10)9h Lord- I forgot how stressed I was 25 years ago- and that was essentially a decent build atmosphere! This house will also be a 'small build'. 800-1,000 ft2. I am also against illegals working for any company that is used. Though the footprint will be small there are several upgrades that I want. I have been screwed so many times that I HAVE been better about "we're done check please until I inspect EVERYTHING!! And hopefully learn BEFOREHAND what I need to know about each phase. What I want is none of your business as long as architect approves and you have been told ahead of time. I may need drugs! Or at least many bottles of wine....... Two friends are in the process of building, one just broke ground and another to start in a couple months. I will probably have to live in a camper on site... Not fun that you cannot trust people. How about you need to come into my Emergency Room for something serious- but I don't give a rat's Add... Shall I give you half the cardiac meds? Use wrong suture on your facial laceration- align the wound edges unevenly or decide that I'll just not sew muscle edges- after all, you will never know.... 'Good enough' is not acceptable. 'Done correctly' is. Maybe I'll forget to give you pain medication..... No, I would never do that but am so frustrated at the work ethic of many. I hope I have good connections in Gainesville.... I hope your build goes well....See MoreAny guess as to how much life left?
Comments (14)Austin Air Companie, I think if you had a reason why it was only going to live 7 days, I'd believe you. The flux capacitor is running backwards requiring the compressor to need double the electricity and because it's been running this way for some time it has used up all it's muffler grease?! How's that? testing, testing. LOL. PS: if you're doing remodeling and such running wires and such thru attic it's best you do these things first then blow in insulation on top. If the boards going across a section of ceiling are 2x4 rafters I think I would look into a way of strengthening that to at least a 2x6 --- but preferably 2x8 minimum. If you ever have trouble and need to access that attic again those 2x4's are easily forgettable and now a hidden danger to anyone who attempts to access this part of the attic. It could come back to bite you....See MoreAny clue on the exterior style of this home? (Built around 1900-1910)
Comments (17)Oh my, would so love to be the proud owner of this! The interior photos show enough to know that this could be beautiful . I can see why you would like to work on it. I haven't any suggestions other than a cohesive colour scheme ! I can only dream of such a characterful home. Many styles made it to Australia, but not this and even less variation of quality made it to regional areas....and even less 2 storey homes. I can but dream.... Sigh........See Morehavingfun
