Design Dilemma Furniture

Need a new cube or pouf to replace black ones, would like suggestions

I have had these black cubes for about 14 years, and I use one of them as a foot rest when I sit on the hound tooth chair with no arms. The "leather" on one of the cubes is peeling and I need a replacement. Wondering if I should get a single pouf and if so what color?

Seems it's difficult for me to make design decisions without the expertise from Houzz.

Add some color , get a braver , bolder rug too. Put two cubes under a shallow glass top console

From a designer,,, based on the larger wall I'd put a bench there with pillows on it.

We own two CAT stoves; one has been keeping us warm for nearly 18 yrs. now, the other is brand new (Woodstock Soapstove Co.). You DO have to pay attention to how you treat the catalytic combustors to keep them functioning effciently for as long as possible; this means not burning a lot of trash in the stove, not burning painted or stained wood, etc.. And they do require periodic replacement (we have averaged 3-5 yrs. between replacements). But day to day operation of CAT stoves is no big deal, it's really easy. I wouldn't let a CAT mechanism be a "non-starter", personally. But do make sure you follow the manufacturer's directions if you purchase one. It makes a big difference in long term performance.

Hi sis2two...I'm in the same situation as you! We currently have a king sz. bed, and I think I've talked my hubby into getting a queen. (It was an antique reprod. mahog. bed; very tall and lrg.!)...We are currently working on a coffered ceiling in there, and have just put in new hardwoods. I'm currently trying to decide on paint colors; just want something different! I LOVE sleigh beds also, and have been looking at different brands online. I just saw a beautiful 1 on Horchow that is a creamy white color...I wonder if they are hard to deal with a comforter fitting right. I guess it has to be folded and tucked in at the footboard..? I want to see the C. Rogers beds also!

Truthfully, I have the same issue. I have silicone caulk in the 'change of plane' area between the wall and the shower base and I have to redo it every year or two. Is IS a colossal pain! I had asked about it on the bathroom forum and there were those who insisted that if I had silicone caulk there was no way that mildew (or mold) could form. Well come and visit...there's always some to look at. I had my bathroom redone about 8 years ago and I think I'm up to the 4th time to replace the caulk. Yes, you can replace just the missing sections of grout. I like to scrape out a little bit more around the area, mix up my grout and then add the rest needed. Helene

@decoenthusiaste I really like the idea of leather and darker, but already at 2:39pm November 21 the sun is low on the horizon and on December 21 it will be even darker. In the summer months this room is filled with sun and light from 6am to 11:30pm, so the darker leather would warm the room up. In the winter months the amount of light is only a few hours, so I'm thinking even though the view is incredible, the limited amount of daylight makes for a darker room and dark leather might reduce reflection more? Thoughts?

Jan, I love that console table you show, but I do have a cabinet there now (you can hardly see it in the middle picture with the couch. would this pouf work in either orange or green?

Well isn't that an odd little space of different things going on there. Whatever you do, absolutely no poufs. You don't have space for an ottoman in that room. If you want to put your feet up somewhere, sit on the couch.

I do like sitting right by the fireplace in the winter, but I hear what you are saying maybe there is not room and too much going on in the small room already. Thanks.

Take them to a fabric shop and have them reupholstered in the fabric of your choice. After all you are used to having them.

Shiripp. Thank you so much. Any suggestions on color? Would be fun to have a pop of color, but not sure what color or fabric type. I have colors in my rug and also the 4 flower pictures above fireplace, perhaps a color from one of them?

Jan Moyer mentioned orange and you asked about using orange or green. I'd go with the orange.
