Hi sis2two...I'm in the same situation as you! We currently have a king sz. bed, and I think I've talked my hubby into getting a queen. (It was an antique reprod. mahog. bed; very tall and lrg.!)...We are currently working on a coffered ceiling in there, and have just put in new hardwoods. I'm currently trying to decide on paint colors; just want something different! I LOVE sleigh beds also, and have been looking at different brands online. I just saw a beautiful 1 on Horchow that is a creamy white color...I wonder if they are hard to deal with a comforter fitting right. I guess it has to be folded and tucked in at the footboard..? I want to see the C. Rogers beds also!

I just bought an iron bed from Brass Beds of VA. They have a sleigh bed and have a choice of many different color combos. I bought my bed from Pat at the factory and he gave me a tour. They truly are handcrafted and more beautiful when you see them.

I think I would stick with iron since you have a lot of wood already. Antique white iron would look great with a cottage decor. Why don't you like your current iron bed though? Is it just because it's black? Can it be painted white?

msrose- I think the black of my bed along with the chest of drawers that's black detracts from the light and airy feeling that I want. The bed is called the Fairfield by Charles Rogers and has a little brass on it. Not sure how painting it would be. It could be Spring fever but I am wanting to change something and declutter my room. I do tend to use mostly ivory bedding so not sure about that.

I'm 2 hrs from Richmond also. Give Pat a call and tell him you would like to come and see the beds. He does not have a show room but you can see how the beds are made and each step they go through.He was wonderful and let me roam around when we were done. He only has a few employees and are only open certain days. There is a you tube video you should watch also. I think there is a like on the site.
My bed has a little brass tag on it with our name and date it was made. You can customize it for what you want. The bed is so sturdy too. Doesn't move at all.
Can I tell you how much I love my bed?!!!!!!!

I got bed number 143. Originally online I was looking at bed 158. He did not have one in production but said he had one ready to ship out and he would take it out of the box and show me. How's that for CS? Then I spotted a table that was that design. Meanwhile while I was touring saw 143 and liked it better.

He will also work to customize it. I chose mine to be 8 inches from the floor instead of 10 and lowered the headboard by 2 inches also.

I love your bed and what a beautiful design! Thank you for showing me pictures. I was thinking about a vintage white to lighten up my room a bit but now that I see yours I am reconsidering.
