Need dining room to pop
Comments (13)You are using one of the top popular colors this year, that deep teal. The issue we see is that there is too much blue, and especially the curtains need a pattern that pulls the teal but has other colors - go bold there! That color goes well with bright yellows, pinks, deep purples and even orange (a "yummy" color) The vibe is quite formal so you want "serious" art, chandeliers (as many folks have commented), beveled mirrors, maybe something with a 40's feeling ("Old Hollywood?" . Mirrored sideboard, or antique buffet works. We have a similar design in our Idea photos called "Desert Glamour" using several HOUZZ products - take a look. Best luck!...See Morelooking to make my dining room and sitting room blend
Comments (11)Was your living room done by a decorator? It's beautiful but seems so impersonal. I would suggest a large carpet for your dining room in warmer colors than the living room, since the wall color is warmer. I would look for original art, not just some prints that look good, but rather something that touches your heart. Since the dining set is traditional you could also look for a mirror with an ornate frame. I wouldn't pick just traditional art, though, because the living room has a more transitional vibe. You can mix in drawings and watercolors, and more contemporary art....See MorePLEASE HELP, can’t visualize how to make this room pop!
Comments (143)I think nothing short of a beautiful floor to ceiling wallpapered wall will do. Then choose a color in the paper and paint the walls next to it a shade or two darker. I know, you've already painted it but either you do something big and bold like my suggestion or have all these prints and stained glass items scattered on it and it will look tacky. Just bite the bullet and do it. It will look sensational and be the focal point of your home and receiver of many compliments and wall envy. And don't be afraid to use rich deep shades in the colors you're using in the rest of your home....See MoreDining Room Make Over Help!
Comments (22)So your current sideboard is too short for the wall. Instead of purchasing something new, the best way to take up more space on the wall is to place a chair on either side of the sideboard. It will be OK for you to have 4 chairs around the dining room table. Select some type of vertical mirror (perhaps with a finish same as the chandelier) and some type of matching scone, either electrified or with candles. Placing framed prints or matching plates over the position of the chairs will also help to expand the focus of the wall. In deciding what is more important, the corner cupboard of the ability to add drapery panels to the room, I would add the panels from floor to ceiling. On the bare wall I would add a canvas, not a print with glass and a frame because of the possible glare. The subject matter is your choice, but landscapes or still lifes are always nice for dining rooms. A shade of green will bring out the best tones in the wood....See Moregroveraxle
