Is Wallpaper 'Out'?
Comments (67)Under $30 roll is not difficult to find. There are some very nice papers available in that price range. Have a small space? Try eBay. Many times you can get high-end wallpapers in small quantities for only a little $$. I did that with a Thibault paper not too long ago (although I don't have it hung yet...LOL). If I were trying to stay in the under $30 camp, I'd go with traditional designs--damasks, toile, stripes...things that don't go out of style. Anaglypta and lincrusta papers are always interesting and not necessarily expensive--although hanging them can be a challenge! I am a HUGE fan of Bradbury papers. There's absolutely nothing more beautiful that a room full of their wallpaper. I have several friends who have used it and it's FABULOUS although pricey. They are now starting to manufacture some mid-century design papers that are way cool, too... Most notably, I love some of their new kitchen designs: They're just fantastic. I used a less expensive paper in my laundry/mud room. It's a toile and I only used it on one wall. It's much more fun that just a painted wall and adds so MUCH character to this old house (which originally had EVERY room papered). Wallpaper is great stuff. There's nothing like it for adding texture or interest to a room....See Morewallpaper
Comments (34)I am glad to find this thread. I am in the process of stripping old painted wallpaper in my 1920s home. There was paneling on the exterior walls in 2 rooms which I had painted. Now I'm finding out why the former owners put up the paneling - the walls are a mess! Part of me is thinking of shellacing it and telling people its a new pattern called "Archeology". I would love to do a tongue in cheek honoring of the old 1940s(?) wallpaper, and oddly enough that seems to be whats instyle: large large prints very similar to what used to be very small. At $75 - $100 and up per roll though... Do you find you get sick of it after a while? I don't want to spend all that money and in 2 or 3 years yawn over it. Thanks! Comments (18)Thanks all. I am a Realtor. and have been for 15 years.....so I do understand the importance of what's really critical and, as this is my mother's home (she passed away in November) and I'll be listing it, I'm taking extremely good care of the systems, yard, appliances, etc. I'm willing to invest more than the average "flipper or prepper". The comps are extremely good in the area so I'm willing to go over and above to maximize the sale. I'm really just curious if anyone has every used the peel and stick over exisiting wallpaper. I had no intention of paining over the paper. - that's a shortcut I'd never do, especially on my own property and If i paint, I'd remove the paper, have the drywall prepped appropriately and then paint. I just wanted some insght into the peel and stick and see if it was worth a shot! Thanks all!...See MoreWallpaper paint color help
Comments (138)Hi everyone! I’m still waiting for my carpet samples. In the meantime, I ordered samples of various colors of 100% linen. It’s been tricky to find anything that is an exact match or even a nice looking contrast with so many colors going in the wallpaper. With all of the dark green the doors, trim, etc. I didn’t want anything dark. I’ve narrowed it down to these two samples. I already have a new Pottery Barn Belgian linen duvet and shams set in ivory, but it is reading yellow so maybe that could be folded up at the end of the bed or sold. These samples are from a popular Etsy seller overseas, who makes linen bedding and has many good reviews. Sorry for the small picture, but I was trying to incorporate the wallpaper behind. Maybe you could zoom in? TIA!...See MoreSina Sadeddin Architectural Design
