orangey maple cabinets-suggestions please
Comments (29)Thanks karen belle, had same experience with BM site..they need to revamp. I called the BM rep that came to my home & gave color suggestions last year. She suggested painting trim classic gray & walls london fog, living with it, & see if that helps. If my cabinets still bother me, I would be that much closer to having part of the project done. She also said clients in her area are taking their cabinet doors to automotive detail shops & having them sprayed..I may check into pricing on that just in case. & thank you for spending the time helping with my dilemma:)...See MoreHorrible time complementing orange-y wood
Comments (17)I hope I am not too late - you have probably painted by now or maybe you are still living with paint swatches on the walls. But we have the same problem but ours is because the whole house has orangey wood ceilings. Every paint colour I pick out reacts very strangely and it has taken an awfully long time to come up with ones that work. We also have strong S. Cal sunshine which washes some colours out too. So for the LR/kitchen what has worked is Farrow and Ball Off White - a grey/green off white - almost a pale khaki. You can order a sample off their website for $7 I believe. It looks great - changes with the light but is a great neutral. For one bedroom we have BM Azores which also looks good but it is a fairly small room so looks a bit gloomy - we are going to repaint with C2 Bella Donna which is a light greyed down lavender. I think BM must have one too and I think P&L has a nice one called Gentility. It seems to counteract all that orange. For another bedroom we have Silver Sage but I don't think it works - looks too minty and almost fluorescent; but right now I cannot be bothered to repaint it. Hope this helps!...See MoreWood Floor type Color suggestions, please?
Comments (10)Hi there, Congrats on the remodel! Your choices so far look great. As far as hardwood flooring goes, Bruce and Armstrong are great name brands. We've installed many of these floors with long lasting success. If you want a "darker" floor, I'd suggest you stay in the cool tones (away from the oranges and reds you dislike) and don't go overly dark just because we don't want the space to look smaller than it is. Bruce has some beautiful pre-finished darker hardwoods for you to choose from. I'd suggest one with some texture, mainly because kitchens are high traffic areas and the darker the floor, the more you see on it. But with some hand scrapping, etc, it will eliminate a lot of the every day wear and tear that may drive you crazy. Bruce - Dark Solid signature scraped hardwood The link I added is from the Bruce line, and I think that this color, along with the light grey counters and the white cabinets would pair really well... It's also not too too dark. Whatever you choose, I'd suggest something with a bit of texture. This is a solid red oak, not refinished, but its a nice medium color, and the busy graining of red oak act just like a textured floor would when it comes to hiding discrepancies. This is another one I found which has a nice medium tone for your space. Good Luck The Couture Floor Company - Flooring Blog...See MoreWall colour for 90's orange-y floor
Comments (3)Your wood floors are perfectly fine but would look nicer with a better wall color. Get a flooring professional to install the wood in the kitchen. An expert can do that! I think that you will love the look of one flooring throughout. New wall colors and pretty area rugs will go far to add an updated vibe in yoir home....See MoreLindsey B
