What color for my entryway runner rug?
Hello,
I have a small studio in Brooklyn and I'm looking for suggestions on what color rug to put in the entrance hallway. The red arrow in the image shows where the rug would go (it would end before the white door to the left, which is the beginning of the kitchen)
The width of the hallway is 3.25ft and the length is about 6.5ft. The floor is an ugly beige with shadows of a dirty pink. I just moved in so besides a brown couch, I have no other furniture to make decisions around.
What color rug do you think would look good in this space? I'm imagining a wool material since I hear those last longer. Also, what kind of entrance decor do you recommend? I'd love to place my keys and a few shoes at the door.

I hope you'll reconsider and let us see how the two go together and what other lovely things you have there. Wouldn't mind seeing your living room and other areas of your house too! I also have a wool Karastan rug that I've had for well over 20 years and it still looks gorgeous and almost new except for some minor wear on the edges. I'm happy to know that the polyester ones are also good since I had some doubts about them. Comments (3)THE RULE Is don't make a second post!! Go to a real carpet store, ask to see stair runners that come in 36 inch widths.Have it made to the length you need and backed with non skid. Or look at area rugs in 3 x 5 for the entry if that fits.. No doormat sizes. Ready made runners will be too narrow for your space No to the rug under table. You need an 8 x10 and I doubt that fits. We want a runner but wonder if we should save room for an entry mat at the double front doors. Also, we don't know how wide or long the runner should be, whether WITH an entry mat or WITHOUT one. PRO6 years agolast modified: 6 years agoi like flo's suggestion. look for a runner under the rug section, and something 2' wide. I'd go longer than 4' because once you get it down, 4' really isn't that long.
this is nourison grafix in the blue,,but they have it in a black and white too
or something like this with a little shallow console against the wall.

- PRO6 years agoFor example. A runner with black and white or your choice of colors and a larger rug with similar colors and style. Modern/modern — traditional/traditional etc.
