Thanks, all! I've had this topic on my mind as I drive around and look at the contrast trim on neighborhood houses. While I love the high-contrast look elsewhere, it doesn't feel like "me." It's how I love all the gray rooms I see online, but don't actually want one myself. We're going with Mascarpone in the kitchen to start with. If it's awful, we'll revisit for the rest of the house. We plan to use Georgian Green in the DR, top half, and Mascarpone for the bottom half/wainscoting. Other colors for the house are Philadelphia Cream, Antiquity, Calming Cream, and Nantucket Fog. I think Mascarpone will work well with those.

Best bet is to try to match what you have if you like it. If it’s peeling you can grab a big enough piece and take it to the paint store and they will match it for you. I use Sherwin Williams most of the time (I get a discount and they are good to work with). Benjamin Moore has good products too. Behr rates high in consumer reports, but I have qualms about expertise in a big box store. Yours may be fine. White looks even whiter outside, so my inclination is to lean into creams or pale gray or beige.

Awww I think its a sweet little house - siimplicity is a GOOD thing, IMHO. Some of these McMansiony things you see on this forum - too busy and visually chaotic for my tastes with their multiple roof lines, and 15 different exterior finishes thrown together. When was it built? You could go in a 1920s cottage direction with it, or something more 1940s-50s midcentury. Once we can see the roof, I would think of 3 colors - 1 for the siding, 1 for all the trim + window sashes + garage door, and 1 for the front door + the trim around the front door. And make sure these all relate well to your roof, since it is prominent. Door - replace front door with something jazzier, but keep it simple. Hi - Both Montgomery White & Muslin sit towards the middle of the Yellow Hue Family, at 87.59° and 88.24°, respectively. . Montgomery White has not far off double the Chroma of Muslin, so will hold on to that bit more colour under the bleaching-out effects of full-on, searing sun. Or in other words, Muslin is nearer to neutral than Mongomerey. Both are pretty, it just depends upon the effect you are hoping for. Muslin also has a Lightness value of 85.45 compared to Montgomery at 89.68. (Out of 100) So it is just a few points less bright than Montgomery. Ivory Porcelain lives past the centre of the Yellow Family, heading over towards the next Hue Family of Green-Yellow at 94.43°. It has a Lightness value of 87.28, so sits between Muslin & Montgomery. In terms of Chroma it also sits between the two. Navajo White 947 is lighter than the other 3 with a Lightness Value of 91.25. It is also the more neutral of the 4 colours With the least amount of Chroma. It sits nearest to the centre of the Yellow Hue Family at 92.25° Are there any other fixed finish materials on the exterior which might direct you to which type of Yellow would work most happily? Wood trim? Stone Terrace etc? And perhaps decide if you are looking for a definite colour to hold its own in the sunlight or something just to take the edge off blinding-whiteness? 🌈
