hey pattyk - I told you, I am waiting for you to make all the decisions, so I can just sit back and copy you!! LOL.... just kidding :) Well, our kitchen is at a standstill right now. Searching like crazy to pick the backsplash (btw, ever since you posted your DH's idea to tile to the ceiling, I have found soooo many pics that do that!! It's only been around like a window wall though, not above the cabinets, it doesn't look weird at all) and today I will venture out and pick some new paint chips to try. I have a running list of colors I see posted on GW. However, my slab of "our" granite has heavy gray tones, so I can't go with the browns I was in love with :( The other thing I am waiting on is a window treatment, but DH has a client that does that at home window treatment shopping thing and he really wants to come do ours. I am inclined to let him because what I had in mind just doesn't seem like it will work. What is the tile you are using? Do you know what pattern you will do it in? Any accents or just one color? I am bookmarking like crazy and confusing the heck out of myself...haha. elle3 - I thought that was the one, it was talked about alot on the kitchen forum and it also gets referred too alot. Isn't it wonderful??

Kitchendetective, that wall by the table is the only full wall. Other than that I have a lot of cutting in above and below windows and doors, plus a small wall about 18" wide next to my oven. I'm afraid it would look too chopped up to have those little bits and pieces one color and the table wall a different color. What do you think? I'm really terrible at visualizing. I want to say thanks to all of you for your specific paint suggestions. I've got them all written down and I'm going tomorrow to my local awesome paint store with my bag of samples and see what I come up with. It helps me so much to have specific paints to look at because there are just too many choices and it overwhelms a girl! tkbalt, your kitchen is so pretty. What a transformation from those white slab doors! I'll be back Monday with narrowed down choices and photos of my favorites painted on the wall with my kitchen samples propped up. OR MAYBE WITH MY REAL CABINETS!!! I just realized, cabs are scheduled to go in tomorrow. WOO HOO!!! Anita

HGTV Van Dyke Brown? I see the Urbane Bronze in my paint samples...it is a very cool grey. It sounds like you are very dissatisfied with the color of your island, and no matter how many of us (I also think your island is lovely) tell you it is fine, if it doesnt look "right" to your eye, then you arent going to like it. Like others, I am also concerned the paint isnt going to adhere to the current finish. Would you be open to us all putting our heads together in trying to find some other way to change the look of that island? Or draw your attention away from it? Or? Cause I dont think you will be happy with the look of peeling paint. ;-)
