I would use the taupe as it picks up the exact tone in the counter top and would compliment it well. Actually any of them would work well but that's my preference. Lovely choices you've made.

My first thought was the lennox tan...that seemed to jump out at me and blend really well with your fabric. Next was baby turtle. Good luck!

I have Baby Turtle in my FR and love it but it is a pretty deep color. I have the next shade lighter Flowering Herbs in my kitchen which adjacent to the FR.

Thanks everyone for weighing in! I should have maybe mentioned that I have Jamesboro Gold in the adjacent dining room if that has any effect on your choices. I think that most of these coordinate fine with that though.
I've pretty much ruled out Buckhorn, I love the color, but I think it will be too dark and overwhelming for the space.
Baby Turtle is probably at the top of the list, but I'm thinking about Lennox Tan as a very safe, comfortable choice. I don't know if I want to be safe though. I thought BT and OB were quite similar until I took pics, OB looks a lot cooler and grayer, would that be a correct assessment?

marybeth1: Thanks so much for the pictures! Is FH actually a lighter version of BT? It almost seems like it has less yellow in it. It looks very pretty in your kitchen, I will definitely give that some consideration. There really is very little wall in the kitchen itself, so the paint will have it's impact in the family room.

pattyk, they are on the same paint strip FH is one above BT. FH is a grey/sage green it is a chameleon it changes throughout the day BT I was afraid was too olive but it's not and against my white shutters it really pops. Some people can't even tell the difference but BT definitely gives more of an impact if that's what your looking for hope that helps. Over the door of the PR is where I switched to BT.

I have Olive Branch in my laundry room. It's more 'green' than the Baby Turtle, and a little more intense. I have the Baby Turtle in hallway, Living Room, and used to have it in front entry. It's very muted, a medium toned color, and goes more brown in some light. I like it a lot with reds and pinks and bronzey greens. I have the Northampton Putty in my DR. It looks like it would be more tan, but it is definitely in the soft olive colorway, at least in there. I like all three but my fav is the Turtle. So much you can do with it. But it does appear green, so if you want more tan in your kitchen, you might look at the Lennox or Huntington Beige.

redbazel your pics of Baby Turtle is what made me want that color! I think I'm really down to either the Baby Turtle or Lenox Tan, and I'm really torn. I was really wanting some kind of a green, but I think the Lenox Tan is a bit more cohesive with the rest of my color scheme. Who would have thought choosing a paint color would be this hard? DS was asking this morning why there are so many colors, why not just red, yellow, blue etc? Typical male attitude, no? lol

Patty, at this point, you might get a tester of the turtle and the Lenox Tan. If they have them at Ben Moore in the samples, you could do that. If they don't, try Sherwin Wms and see if they will mix them up in their $5 tester qts for you. The local SW store has the BM fan deck. Then, go to town painting. Paint a big enough swatch next to your cabinets so that you can really see what you're looking at.

I love the BT. I loved it in a long-ago photo on the net in a home by someone named Jan. She decorated beautifully and I wanted that look. But many years passed before I found the right place to use it. Sometimes a color that looks just right in a photo just will not do what we need it to in our home. So, only get it if it makes your kitchen look the way you want it to and works with your house. Right now, I am in love with Restoration Hardware Flax. But for the last 5 years, I've tried to use it and it is just too too dark for my home. Maybe someday.......but not in this house.

I'm sure I can get the Lenox, but not the Turtle. I'd have to get that one mixed since it's not carried as a regular color here in Canada. I'm not sure we even have a SW anymore, when we built 13 years ago there was one, but not now, there's only 5-6 in Canada at this point.

You know the more I look at the swatches, the more I think the Lenox Tan (or Huntington Beige for that matter) are better choices. The trouble is, it's so close to my foyer color that I feel a yawn coming on. :P

I wish I could put Baby Turtle in my Foyer, but it's two stories high and I don't think DH will go for painting that one again. *sigh*

I would also buy a sample quart --you should see my basement full full of homeless quarts! Since you mentioned the jamesboro gold, I would want to make sure the two colors work well together.
I currently have my backsplash painted in northampton putty, and it's a great color. I also love baby turtle--both colors have enough brown in them to compliment your jamesboro gold.
The olive branch (in my living room!) is definitely not grayed--I think it has more yellow in it, but it might read differently with white cabs.

I'm terrible with links, but there was a poster not too long ago with a white kitchen that opened up to a family room that was done in two different shades of brown, a tad darker in the kitchen. It was stunning.

Can you show us your other rooms? I think any of the colors you're looking at would go with the Jamesboro Gold, but I'd like to see the color in your foyer.

I can see now that it's hard to tell the difference betweent he JB and the entry color, but it comes off as a lighter version of the JB in real life.

lenox tan or baby turtle would look pretty and both would go with the gold in the next room.

I have lenox tan in my white kitchen and I LOVE IT. It looks like coffee with cream. My granite is similar to yours too.

Lenox Tan is my first choice. It seems to be one of those neutrals that really works. I love your kitchen.

I think I'm going with the Huntington Beige, unless I have a change of heart at the last minute and go with the Lenox Tan, I keep wavering between these two, lol. The painting will likely get done this week, so I'll be sure to post a follow up to this one. Thanks so much everyone for your opinions!

LOL. I have to tell you that the only One color I like that you have within your choices is Buckhorn. BUT My Cousin just had all new granite put into her kitchen and she has the same white cabs as you do. She had Uba Tuba Granite counters put in. ( more of the black base no real green and its beautiful) she used a color Paint that is more of a Stone color cool base to go with the white cabs. You can see too within your white cabs a cool tone. Even though when you get your eyes close to her Uba Tuba and see the flecks of gold and green and peacock ..The Paint still looks amazing. And she has all white appliances yet is going to move on to SS soon. I know her color is from Pittsburgh Paints. She won't buy any other brand.

She showed me the Paint and I said OMG NO NO ..she painted it and it looks FAB. No green/yellow within it. Its a Slate Mushroom Color. When she showed me the paint chip I said Umm - But OMG did it turn out to be just divine.

I'm working on talking DH down from his to-the-ceiling tile idea, lol. I feel good about getting the paint decision out of the way though, and we've decided on a antique beige tumbled marble backsplash, so we're almost there! He just put the cup pulls on the drawers yesterday and I'm in love. So gorgeous. I can't wait to post finished pictures one day. :)

Well, our kitchen is at a standstill right now. Searching like crazy to pick the backsplash (btw, ever since you posted your DH's idea to tile to the ceiling, I have found soooo many pics that do that!! It's only been around like a window wall though, not above the cabinets, it doesn't look weird at all) and today I will venture out and pick some new paint chips to try. I have a running list of colors I see posted on GW. However, my slab of "our" granite has heavy gray tones, so I can't go with the browns I was in love with :(

The other thing I am waiting on is a window treatment, but DH has a client that does that at home window treatment shopping thing and he really wants to come do ours. I am inclined to let him because what I had in mind just doesn't seem like it will work.

What is the tile you are using? Do you know what pattern you will do it in? Any accents or just one color? I am bookmarking like crazy and confusing the heck out of myself...haha.
