Flooring ideas?

Trying to figure out what to do for flooring and paint in this room. The adjoining rooms are the living room which has original hardwood floors, the bathroom which had a white hex tile and the kitchen which is also getting a new flooR. I’m considering painting the brick (it’s just not a very good looking brick) and/or the knotty pine to lighten the room up, it’s very small and will be a main space for our family’s use. the home is an old farmhouse, so we’re trying to keep things simple, things quirky and vintage farm style.

I'd keep the brick and paint the knotty pine And I'd continue the same wood floor you have in the other room.

I definitely agree with painting the wood. If you really don't like the brick, put white wash on it to tone down the color. The floor really should be the same throughout. It would look very odd to put a different kind of wood in this area.

I would go with the lino. The stone curb under the W/D is good if the leak happens close to the machine, but I worried about a leak/flood where the hose hook ups are or even out the door of the Washer. We put a drain directly under the Washer. The floor gradually slopes (you can notice it) towards the drain. Then it's sealed around the baseboards. With the vinyl flooring it will help (hopefully) in case of a leak.

Someone has to go under the house and determine what the exact problem is and then determine the best cost-effective way to fix it. No shortcuts for this problem because the problem may not be what you suspect. I realize you have a modular home, but this could be the same problem. Take a look at these samples of Brazilian Cherry peel and stick flooring. I bet you might see the color of your floor. ...[how integrated vs closed off is the kitchen?]... cab and floor tones are similar / but note the grain is different between the two woods......I would go to another look.....as slate or tile look of some sort. How many sq feet and what is the budget because there is a lot of wonderful product out there...you pay for labour and materials [ if not DIY] so nail down your cost window and bring in samples. Countertop that exists might be a factor.....what is there? and what do you like? in a way this is neutral because it takes floor mats and small runners w its rather subdued tones and I bet its not as dark as you may think...i like it ..it has some presence but dont think its all that bold.......when you get to the kitchen it depends on the counters.....? soapstone or darker granite or light corian ?? ...you havent shown counter......

Have you seen houzz photos of black/ pewter type piping used to hold up shelving? … quirky … and would bring out rustic of current brick.

Walls might look nice with type of color like this 'pickled oak' - Ikea's 'brown/grey' is similar it seems.

I can’t match the original hardwood in the front rooms, as they are 140 years old! Its been suggested I cover them with a luxury vinyl or laminate so I can have th same floors throughout but I hate to waste a good hardwood floor that just needs some refinishing.

Mixing wood floors with wood look floors with different stains and materials is tough to pull off. I think slate/slate look floors look good next to wood and will also work with the other elements in your house. You can get it in porcelain tile and LVT versions. Pick a quiet blend of slate, sometimes it has a lot of color variation and can look too busy.

New wood flooring doesn’t have to match existing exactly. Skilled flooring professionals can do a pretty good job at least getting the color to match. Or the tile suggestions above are good. I can’t imagine how insane it would be to put VINYL over real hardwood. Good grief.

I agree that wood floors would be best. Two slightly different shades would be better than tile or vinyl IMO.
