HELP WITH CURB APPEAL AND EXTERIOR COLOR SCHEME
Comments (12)Yes to painting the shed to match your house. But do not highlight the white trim. ALL one color. And remove any “cute” embellishments. Your home is modern. The shed shouldn’t look “country.” And Yes to NO Shutters. Finally…trim up the tree but leave it there. Before you sell, ream out any drain lines that might be compromised. (And certify that they are “clear” for the buyer.). Let the buyer decide about the future of the tree…which is NOT that close to the house. Focus on simple basic landscaping in the front and along the walk. Nothing extreme. Again…let the buyer do that. Maybe a pot on the front porch planted with annuals. Mulch with brown mulch, not strange color OR stone. Leave future decisions to the buyer....See MoreHelp with Curb Appeal
Comments (5)Would be helpful to see a photo from further away. I see no walkway leading to the porch. Consider removing the 2 shrubs at entryway and landscape a path off the entryway out about 15 feet leading to a circular large planting bed which might include a tree, bench sitting spot, and flowers. The light above entry seems wrong for placement so when budget allows consider getting new lights located each side of entryway....See MorePlease help with curb appeal
Comments (11)when i look at the house all i see is the left side, the one window grouping is inconsitent with the right side of the house, which has much more detail ( although it is a bit hidden from the street view. focus on that section. the brick dominates the look, so maybe remove the brick on that section and use the same texture as what you put on the adfition. what about a vertical wood application?? You would be toning down thebrick in the overall look.this would give the house a more modern look. the roof lines would support this look. maybe a darker roof? if you remove the brick on that area now is the time to think about making the window change and placement. i think part of that area is the garage. garages can have windows. (you need to add detail on the outside, think about what works from the inside too). the comments regarding landscaping are spot on, frankly, there isnt any! i have no idea where you are located. are you in a fire zone? if you arent, add some detail all around the house. think dogwoods ( white would be nice) japanese maples ( they come in great dark reds), birch ( the bark is a gorgeous textured white), japanese snowbell ( gorgeous when they flower). make sure you repeat what you choose, maybe a grove of birch ( they grow big) . for perennial color think daylilies, hosta, and tall grasses would be great for texture. its whatever you like and can handle. the driveway looks narrow. it it should is be a bit wider. that wpuld make it much more elegant. add trees throughout the front yard, accenting the generous driveway. you have plenty of space. you can group plantings into a large bed too. hire a landscape designer, definately worth the investment. So many great options. improving the landscsping will take your eye off the house. you will see it all as more cohesive. In terms of front door color and garage doors, start with the bigger changes, once design is done, youll see what you want for color. the color of the brick is setting your perimeter. overall, you have a great start, think of yourself as adding detail and interest. its all about you and what you like!...See MoreHelp with curb appeal
Comments (15)landscaping is 75% of this curb appeal. simply natural nailed it. I'd do something like that. bring in some darker colors around the brick. what do you think of darker siding? here's how it would look next to the yellow brick. I love these color combos. (This vertical siding is also a nicer option than the blah-look horizontal vinyl siding) Urbane Bronze would be a perfect compliment. also gave you a darker, more modern door, house numbers and a light. here's a yellow brick ranch w/the vertical siding on the gable, wood door, pathway, AND, look at the painted porch! love that darker color instnead of the plain concrete. copper, bronze natural wood tones, these other colors, all look nice w/the warmer brick. these colors are nice too. the charcoal on the siding would look great. pair it w/mahogany modern door, modern address/light. if you ever replace those windows, go w/the Bronze color. would look much better w/the bric what the urbane bronze would look like on the fascia trim, windows, and a wood door. consider redoing the siding. (if that's an option) to a board and batten siding. here's how that type looks w/brick. you could do the garage area w/this. (and even the gable portion above the brick) here's how batten or vertical siding might look in this area: (I'd go w/the dark bronze color) I'd also replace the garage door. Another example of batten siding w/a new garage door in a darker color here's how dark charcoal looks on regular siding SW Iron Ore is also a nice color option. top one is BM color if you want to 'paint' the brick (masonry paint or choose Romabio masonry- that's also an option. (but you still need to address the landscape) I also really like the darker color idea...See MoreYardvaark
