Traditional railing (surface mount) to meet lateral force requirement?

We are building a traditional house and the contractor wants to fascia mount the railing for the balcony - because it seems to be the only way to meet lateral force requirements. Does anyone have a detail for mounting the railing on the surface of the deck/balcony that is strong enough to meet codes? I've looked into titan mounting systems:

and this might work but the contractor hasn't used them before.

Alternatively, if anyone has photos of a fascia/side mounted railing that looks traditional, I'd love to seem them. We were thinking of wood posts with a chippendale type pattern between the balustrades. We don't want cable and would prefer no metal.

Thank you!
