ok, i'm super confused about misting!?!?!?!?
Comments (7)I mist pretty regularly. Then again, as Nc-crn said we are in an arid climate with our fair share of heat and intense sun. Even with adequate watering the roots simply cant keep up with the rate of transpiration in our ultra-low humidity climate with the mercury pushing towards triple digits. So I have three options: let my plants fry, overwater and drown them, or set my hose sprayer to mist. Molds and such are pretty much non existent here. The thing with misting is that you are not so much watering the plants but slowing the rate of water loss through the leaves. First off by cooling them down and secondly by raising the humidity so the water that is being lost through the leaves cant evaporate as quickly. So as it is with most things it comes down to your specific situation whether its right for you to mist or not....See MoreOk, Now I'm starting to get irritated.
Comments (18)Vicki.. are you staying in the area or moving somewhere that gets rain? I did similar things when I sold my house. Even after the people signed the contract I was out there mulching and pulling weeds. It's about 6pm. I guess mothernature read this post. She hasn't teased me today. She didn't give me any rain but she didn't tease me. Pam3... LOL that was funny about the mailbox. Buford... That's a ways from here I think. I'm not really sure. I felt a couple of drops yesterday but no rain. I just watched as the drops evaporated on the deck before the next one was felt. That made it especially painful when nothing happened after that. bumblebeez... I have tried that and still nada. foxesearth... If it were to pour right now, I believe a good amount of rain will get into the soil. I have been keeping it moist as best I can so the water seeps in and doesn't run off. What you use is a very good strategy though. Well it's about that time... Time to go water....See MoreOk- I'm ignorant about lilies and I need help before I order...
Comments (4)In my garden: 1. Yes. 2. Different types of Lilies come in turk cap shape. I have one turk cap Aisiatic, a few species and tiger that are turk caps. Here's the order of bloom in my garden, overlapping somewhat: Asiatic - longiforumasiatic- species - trumpet - oriental - orientpet - orange tigers - species. This year everything was out of sync. The asiatics & longiforum bloomed almost at the same time as well as the orientals & orientpets & species. Weird. 3. Trumpets, orientals, orientpets and many species are fragrant. I heard some new asiatics smell good, but I don't know which. 4. Yes. 5. Darker trumpets (Golden Splendor & African Queen) fare better in afternoon shade. Full sun bleaches them. The orientals are OK in fulll sun...could be because a lot of them are white or have white bands to reflect light. Orange tigers do well both in full sun & part shade. They grow the tallest in full sun. 6. Tigers carry virus, so say various sources. I had tigers in separate beds from my other Lilies for many years with no ill effect. This year, many of my Lilies fell victims to virus. The culprits were the newly planted lilies, not from the tigers. 7. My orange tigers face down, therefore turk caps. 8. 6"- 8"-10" depending on the types. Some species come in tiny bulbs. Brilliant yellows I have are asiatics and trumpets. There are yellow orientals-longiforum/asiatics, but mine are not as brilliant as asiatics. same with orange. Golden Stargazer & auratum are yellow and not asiatics. There are other yellow orientals & orientpets as well. Orientpets are fragrant, the blossoms are large, the plants are very tall and bloom later than orientals, thus extending the blooming season. Never tried van Bourgondien, but am tempted, because I had a very bad experience with B&B this spring, besides the bulbs were much smaller than before....See Moreok - so I'm overweight - but I'm working on it...
Comments (6)Does it have to be a dress? How about nice black slacks, heels and a dressy top? Or a jacket and coordinated blouse. Cute earrings, cute bag and you're set. Do you have a Nordstroms? Was recently looking for a dress to wear to a wedding and saw some really cute things in the women's section. I don't wear women's so nothing worked for me, but I ended up with a print skirt, sleeveles beaded linen top and matching cardigan sweater which I got at Macy's. It was Jones New York, so nice fit and quality. I hear you about the dresses. I'm a size 12 pear, and every one I tried on was horrible. Too big on top, too small on the bottom, too low, big arm holes. I feel your pain. Good luck, and let us know what you do. (Oh and congrats on the weight loss. Keep going.)...See Morebev2009
