Royal wedding in Luxenborg
Comments (2)It is interesting to me how life goes on and how things change. Who would have thought, during those dark days, that I'd be sitting in a house in silicon valley with a laptop talking to you all?...See MoreThe Monaco Royal Wedding (slide show)
Comments (19)I think Albert's sisters look how a friend would describe them using a cowboy phrase about the lack of proper care for a horse --Rode hard and put up wet. They look hard and much older than they are. The news from Nice was that Charlene bolted last week when she learned of two more illegitimate children, one born to the mother of another of his children --and this occurred their romace/relationship. He is supposed to be taking paternity tests after the wedding. Authorities confiscated Charlene's passport and would not let her leave. This situation reminds me also of the story Diana told of her march down the aisle to wed Charles. She knew that he had continued his affair with the married Camilla during their "courtship" and that he had spent the night before the wedding with her. Diana related that she was checking out the guests in the cathedral as she walked down the aisle to see if Camilla was there, and she was. Diana too had her moments during the wedding where she looked quite sad. I think both Diana and Charlene shared the same wedding day misery--unfaithful grooms....See MoreOT Our Big Fat Royal Wedding . . . plus cake.
Comments (47)Here is the recipe for scones that I used. It comes from a National Trust Traditional British Recipes book I bought from the BBC.. Measurements have been converted to US. (Only to be eaten with a large hat on, a cup of tea, and listening to the English national anthem of course.) Scones: 1 cup flour 1 tsp baking powder One half stick butter (I used low fat) One half cup brown sugar One half cup raisins 1 egg One quarter cup milk (again, low fat is fine) Milk to brush the tops Preheat oven 450. In large mixing bowl, sift flour and baking powder and gently combine. Rub in diced butter w finger tips until like breadcrumbs. Add sugar and raisins and combine evenly. Make well in center of mix and slowly add milk and egg (already mixed together) Stir mix w fork to make smooth dough. Knead slightly to make ball and put on floured surface. Roll to about 1 inch thickness and cut into circles w cookie cutter etc. Put on greased baking tray; brush w milk. Bake 15 mins. Also works if you add nuts, cranberries etc (but less English that way!) Serve warmed up and cut in half, with butter then dollop of strawberry jam, and some type of whipped cream on top. Yum. Comments (14)It may be safer for the mom to move to England. She will be relentlessly pursued by the paparazzi in this country. She will have more protection in England because the Royal family will ask for it. She is 61. She could choose to continue in a career or retire and do other things. If nothing else, she will get a chance to explore and may become some sort of ambassador. Everyone assumes Meghan and Harry will have two babies ASAP. They want grandma there. They want as 'normal' as a family life as they can get....See MoreOakley
