Comments (31)In the immortal words of the latest Disney princess.. "Let it go...let it go...can't hold it back anymore!!!" You might be surprised, and it is entirely possible that my friends and I are an anomaly of my generation but; .. we truly aren't obsessed with perpetual youth and age defying youth anymore. To be honest, my friends and I are kinda sick and tired of the rhetoric that we should appear to be in our 20s until we die. Those I know, from 20s-40s dye their hair for fun in unusual tones, I don't know anyone that dyes to hide gray, that seems to be a thing with my mother and grandmothers generation, even when they were our age. I started getting gray hairs in my early-mid 20s, never dyed my hair in my life until I was 30 and decided, you only live once so why not try crazy hair and I had my hair bleached and dyed bright red fading to yellow on the tips, a "flame job." It was awesome and I got tons of compliments on it but the upkeep was rough and the damage the bleach did was untenable so I had to stop. It was fun for a while though! As you said, it's only hair and, IMHO, you should only dye it if it is fun for you, just like wearing makeup. Once it stops being fun and starts being a chore, it's time to stop....See MoreHair coloring help
Comments (31)I think that you need a very talented hair colorist to pull off some of those looks. Others look gray/white and wouldn't be different in look from what you have. The main difference is the haircuts. They look high fashion. Why not try a single process in a light brown/blond color family? I think you should let your hair grow so that you can have more options for a cut. Gray can look really nice, but here is the how my colorist puts it, "Women with gray hair can look nice, but they look older." So, I understand your need for this change....See Morehair coloring UPDATE
Comments (31)Hi everyone, thank you for all the nice comments. I will take the advice about using proper shampoos. I am on day two and am still liking it. I am afraid to wash it though. LOL...its strange about hair. I went from natural color hair to white very fast, never going thru the gray stage that most of my friends are in. I think all white hair can be beautiful but I still relate all white to older women in their 80's or beyond. I had it in my 50-60-70 so needed a lift. If I get tired of this or it is too costly to keep up I will just go back to my white. In the meantime it gave me the lift I needed.❤️...See MoreHair color
Comments (75)sleeperblues, very pretty, sleeper! And yep, your hair looks recently cut... it's so healthy looking. You already have a reddish-gold natural highlighting going on, I'd go for something less bold then penny suggests (but that's just me nowadays, I used to have 1/2" short hair back in the punk days), and perhaps have some gold or lighter reddish highlights put in? You could start with something subdued, and always add more or go lighter. Nice thing about highlights rather than overall color... you can let it grow out longer without looking like it needs to be 'done' again! ETA: penny, your friend's hair is great! I did that (with blonde) for a while but my hair was longer. I thought it'd look odd with red, but it made my red look darker and so wasn't strange looking... or I didn't think it was ; )...See Moregl0ssy (Ontario zone 5b)
