Paint Design Dilemma

Whitest white paint

Hi! We finished our attic about 3 years ago. We are now selling our house and patched a crack from tempuratue change up there. We bought 3 different ceiling paint brands and they aren’t white enough. I believe we originally bought the paint at Lowe’s. In Your opinion what is the whitest white ceiling paint?

BM Chantilly Lace is the white from BM paints that Maria Killam uses as the control white to see the undertones to compare other whites (for how her system works). It’s not the brightest but you’re not going to see a blue undertone or a yellow undertone etc.

Behr's Ultra White is the cleanest, most white out all the major commercial brands. And it's a pretty color. Don't use a ceiling white. None of them are pretty. They all have a weird, alien blue-green-grayness. My favorite pretty ceiling color is PPG's Delicate White. It's not bright-white-white. But it's slightly warm and when viewed on the ceiling, horizontally over your head, it doesn't look dead and gray like the colors labeled "ceiling white" will. And you don't have to use "ceiling paint" on the ceiling. A mid-grade flat paint works just as well, maybe even better in terms of coverage because a lot of those "ceiling" paints have crappy hide.

growing up in the late 50's early 60's our farmhouse was cream with a green roof....right now our 50 year old home is unrelieved white with a green roof...our immediate neighborhood is filling up with white houses, but so far they dont look repetitive houses are built on concrete slabs in this area so we built up 20 inches and covered that with brick...that really helps with the dirty lower section if i were to build again, i'd use rock on the bottom section as if the house had a rock "foundation" instead of brick

If you want pure white, best to avoid 'ceiling paint' which always seem to have very gray tones.

I love pure white paint and have been happy w/ Behr's Ultra Pure White.

Zinsser's Perma White is also a good pure white that I've used in bathrooms. (It has anti-mildew additives.)

I don't know why people keep commenting that Behr Ultra Pure White is the whitest~ I have just finished using it in all the walk-in closets in our new home, it is a slight off white. I used Zinnser 123 primer and when painted the ceiling with Behr, it looks almost yellow~

If you're unable to find a decorator's true white w/o any pink or yellow hue, you might consider using the most pale blue you can find for your ceiling.
