We found a quail egg out in the yard beneath a thistle sock.

It is a xeriscaped yard, just gravel. California quail, Callipepla californica, pass though daily. A few linger quite a bit. So, yesterday afternoon an egg shows up, just laying there in the gravel beneath a thistle sock where they tend to scratch a lot.
