Thank you, Alisande! I buy them as blank kits which include the head, arms and legs. Then they are painted with heat set paints in the oven. Eyes are added if they are open eyed babies, or just eyelashes if they are sleeping. Next, the hair is applied with a needle and sealed on the inside. The limbs and head are weighted with glass beads for weight. And last, a soft body is weighted with glass beads and fiberfil.That's pretty much it in a nutshell. It takes me a few weeks to finish one. There are a lot of them on eBay if you want to look. Just type in Reborn doll or Reborn baby in the search engine. There's all kinds...from really well done to not so well done. lol Here is a picture of one of the heads without paint..they're just plain one color and don't come 'alive' until they are painted.

A reptile park in eastern Australia, North of Sydney. When we arrived we were told to it was feeding time for Charlie It involved several handler going into his pen, with a chicken attached to a 10-foot pole. They dangled the chicken over the water, Charlie lunged for it and knocked it into the water behind him. He then proceeded up out of the water, toward one of the handlers, seemingly thinking, "I'll bet you taste like chicken"

Yes, it hangs in my home. Portraits of him, his sister, and his mother were all painted at the same time, and hung in his parents' home a long time ago. I'd lost track of them, and hadn't thought about his in years when my son found it in the barn! He hung it in my house without telling me that he'd found it. I came home that day and was doing something near the painting when it caught my eye. To say I was startled was an understatement! LOL
