Backsplash for River White granite HELP!

We just had our counters installed with River White Granite for our new build. We need help with backsplash. We have BM Simply White cabinets and SW Dorian Gray island.

backsplash suggestions to go with Yellow River Granite
Comments (3)My suggestion, Yellow River Granite, same as counters. We did that with our kitchen which is a Brazilian Granite, (Forgot the name), grrrrrrr but we had white tile before, which all of our bathrooms still have + the shower, so (At least for me), I have seen nuff grout for a lifetime, so didnt wanna be looking at it in the new Kitchen (Well was new in 2006). We still love it, our granite has a lotta movement and the backsplash kind of reminds of us the Local Mtns. I will admit we tend , "Not to follow the leaders" or incorporate that which is "Trendy" @ the present time. Good luck on yours, but for us , it was an easy BS decision. Comments (47)alright, I am making progress. We are going with glass but still trying to get right shade. Yesterday I had a color called morning fog from Emser, but today I have 2 different colors. These were taken off of a mosaic type tile we did our master shower with, a set called sandswept. I went to a couple different shops today and was able to narrow down one of the colors as either American Olean willow or Interceramic Beach. Still working on the other one. Here is the one we have identified pretty much here is a comparison of the 2, one on the left I have been unable to identify, closest I have found was celedon from American Olean, and also the 2 with the morning fog posted yesterday Thoughts? Comments (6)Thanks. Glad (another poster on here) think she is in NY, used cream or white beveled subway tiles with the Yellow River and they look so pretty! I love her kitchen. There are several more posters on here with Yellow River so I hope they chime in. Here are some other pictures, close up and personal. I love how they were able to book the granite so it flows from the backsplash onto the counter. You can get a really good idea of this from the first picture above. I'll gladly let you snatch that paint brush out of my hand. ha ha. But at the same time if a little tiling will tie up the project, then I'm game. jodi_socal: I'm a little disappointed when you said fire and ice won't work. I just LOVE that F&I BS. But then agin, I think I know all along it's a little too much for my kitchen. Caryscott & petra: Thanks for the picture petra, it says a thousand words. Is spectralight glass tiles? Prices are pretty reasonable. What about that milk green color? will it work? maybe with some garnet pieces sparingly mixed in. 5 years agoThank you for your help. I am going for more modern farmhouse then rustic. I wish we could wait to pick the backsplash but they want to put it before our vent hood because the backsplash will meet the trim. Here is another picture

5 years agoBeautiful kitchen! Go with an off-white subway tile that matches your off-white cabinets (which, by the way, will probably be labeled "white" when you actually make the selection since it is hard to find a true white).

5 years agoI would go with a white to match or a light gray. Glass might not be the best choice if you are going for a farmhouse feel. I would stick to ceramic. Maybe look at handmade for a rustic look. I'm in love with crackle & I think it would look great here.

5 years agoI did a light grey tile in my kitchen that I really liked. I tried to figure out which one it was, but the invoice didn't list the actual tile name, and it's been a few years. If you really want I can dig it out of my garage and look at the box of leftovers to see if it says, but here's a pic:
It was very inexpensive, and was from Mission Stone and Tile.

Of course, sometimes pictures don't do it justice, but if you see the 1st pic of the kitchen in construction and then the backsplash we added. It is not glossy but caught some light in this pic. It is a stacked slate like stone from Dal Tile called, I think, Volcano. It is blue grey and I get compliments on it from nearly everyone. Same granite as you and cabinets are not yellowy in real life. Good luck!trifecta264

5 years agodana6 - I’ve got more info but you might need to look around a bit because the usual pictures don’t look like anything! I googled the correct name, “Lava Stone”, and you will see a lot of slate like flooring AND under ‘stone/marble mosaics’, you can find it. Mine was made by Ceramic Tileworks and distributed at the time by Daltile.
You can see they had a lot of types of the same stone, and weirdly, mine is the one on the bottom right, cultural brick, honed, and is a compressed pic. The individual stones have no room for grout between, are all 3/8” high, varying lengths and staggered. There are now other look-alike.
