ID for a Few Birds

I recently decided to buy a hummingbird feeder. Generally, I am deathly afraid of birds (or anything that flaps, for that matter) but hummers have been an exception. I normally enjoy having them come to my flowers, etc. but thought I'd take that extra step.

Well, first, it seems I'm not supposed to feed this nectar mix because of the coloring. Whoops -- I'll go to sugar water when I'm done with the bag.

Second, um -- while I do have quite a few hummers that come by, I have a bunch of other birds that drink from this feeder, without those long beaks. I'm guessing there's enough pooled in the bottom for them to grab a sip.

I did some googling and I think I have them figured out but wanted to check in with the experts. I'm located in Las Vegas, NV.

1 - House Finch? (Not a fan of these...)

2 - This bird has now built a massive nest in my tree right in front of the patio. Thankfully, in the world of birds, it looks like a relatively cute one. Based on research, it looks like a verdin, is that correct? Anything I should be wary of in terms of it having a nest right in front of my garden area? Like, is it going to get so defensive as to prevent me from going out there?

I once let a pigeon nest in a pot on my balcony because I could not destroy the eggs, though I despise pigeons. I lived to regret that decision FIERCELY.

Thank you for any guidance you can offer!
