Royal Wedding Tea
Comments (10)Thanks Annette. Annie also was blind and almost deaf for quite a few years. I adopted her from the Humane Society, and they thought she was 14yrs.old at that time - 10yrs.ago! I'm sure it was because she was in such bad shape when the couple brought her to the shelter. They were walking one day and came upon her tied to railroad tracks - front and back legs tied to rails. She was matted, broken teeth, terrible skin condition and chronic ear infections, but with the heart of a mighty little Wire Hair Fox Terrier(Mix). She had swellings on her body that could only have been from being kicked. I'm not a rich person, but I did my best to give her the care she needed all these years. I have to stop beating myself up thinking of times when I could have done more. I have a friend who is a passionate dog owner and fierce when it comes to dog rescue. She believes in preserving life at all cost, but hey, some of us do the best we can; and I too felt it was Annie's "time". Ok. I'll move on. The tea: well, it was like drinking an Almond Joy. No need for any sweetener, that's for sure. It was different, and it must have been good because I drank the whole pot; but it's not for every day. The ingredients are: "Chinese White Tea, rose petals, cornflowers, marigold petals, artificial and natural almond and coconut flavors" I've never had a white tea. Also, brewing instructions read: "Steep in less than boiling water for 4min". Less than boiling? So when you hear the water in the kettle rolling I guess? And I meant "sachets" not "satchels". :)...See MoreWed./Thurs. Watches/Warnings
Comments (6)Laura, That's a lovely amount of rain and it sounds like it was badly needed. It is amazing how fast grass greens up and bounces right back after rainfall. Lisa, I've noticed that happens here. Friends who a mile north or a mile south often get different amounts from us in a given rainstorm, but if we all keep a running total of our year-to-date rainfall, it is surprisingly similar. I've noticed the same thing with our OK Mesonet station which is several miles northwest of us, and the Marietta rainfall totals, which are northeast of us. We all have different totals on different days, but the annual total winds up about the same. Moni, Well, now everyone on this forum knows to expect rain in your part of the state on Monday. Maybe this time they'll actually get to come and install the windows. Dawn...See MoreAre you watching the Royal Wedding right now?
Comments (14)Bulldinkie, the only time I saw them show the queen during singing was when everyone was singing "God Save the Queen," and she wouldn't sing during that! As for Diana vs Camilla, Diana was glamorous and did lots of good, but Prince Charles looks much happier with Camilla to me. I guess when you've been in love with someone for almost 40 years and finally get to be together, it must be nice. I felt bad for everyone in the Charles/Diana split....See MoreWho's going to watch the SNL 40th Anniversary show?
Comments (26)I agree with Littlebug's assessment -- Wild and Crazy Guys was one of the funniest skits over the years! Also, I would rather have seen the players in their original skits instead of guest stars impersonating them, say, Rosanne Rosanadana (I'm sure there were a lot more 'n's in there!). Taylor Swift and the rest of the "Californians" piece was blah -- did she not realize that when she covered her face with her hair, she couldn't be heard? I really did love those brief clips of the comedians cracking up spontaneously while doing their skits. One question: Do you think Lorne Michaels looked somewhat pained at the end, when they brought him up for a standing ovation? I understand that the 40-year mark isn't just professionally -- it hits your very own soul about how much older you are, and I wonder if it was a melancholy moment for him in that respect (in addition to seeing all the faces of people he's worked with -- hired, too -- who are now gone). One more thing: Maya Rudolph was fantastic as Beyonce -- and the giant fans that Beyonce actually uses in concert blowing Maya's co-comedian Martin Short nearly off the stage! ... Kanye, no. He couldn't even play his "annoyed" part right -- too much grinning, not enough angriness....See More- 8 years ago
