Nah. I just am not caught up in it. But, as others have said, I’m sure we’ll see snippets of it over and over and that’ll be plenty for me. I am not s Scrooge but I don’t really understand some of the fixation unless one is from England or the like, but I certainly don’t begrudge anyone, either.

Rather - I wouldn't dress for the wedding except my DDIL is enthralled with the entire spectacle and since I already have my hat I figured I'd wear it. I'm not sure how often I'll be able to pull that out of the closet.

I'm up with the sun, and I love weddings, royal or not. I'm sure I'll tune in. It appears that coverage starts at 4:30 here, so when I get up at 6:00 or so, it should be in full swing, with the pre-game over with.

Probably some of it. I find it interesting. I won't get up early though. My sister is in London for business, she didn't even know there was going to be a wedding, ha ha. It will be interesting to hear her take on the pre-game festivities. She's flying out Saturday morning so had to decline her invite:)

Here the wedding coverage begins at 5am. and ends at 10am. Does anyone have a good guesstimate on the time of the actual walking down the aisle begins?

The DVR is set..........I, too, am a sucker for these events. I have both the Royal Wedding and a funeral to attend on Saturday.

I will mostly likely turn on the tv when I get up (pretty early) and see what's going on. I'm more interested in seeing the crowds and fashions than the actual ceremony. Hope they have a lovely day :-)

most of it. My Dad was Scottish and loved the British Isles so I choose to keep the tradition of watching.

yayagirl, I'm surprised about your comment concerning your father because a good number of Scots retain a fair amount of acrimony about the UK and their place in it. Many view the monarchy as "English", not British, and certainly not Scottish. Yeah, it's been a long time since the union but I think it's more about feelings of unequal treatment and historic discrimination and through to the present day. Many Scottish separatists (who are numerous) view the British Parliament as the English Parliament, which is why they demanded some devolution of power and the establishment of a Scottish Parliament for regional matters.

While it's modern days and everyone is getting on with their lives, many Irish in the Republic similarly remain bitter and retain a historic dislike for the English for the centuries of mistreatment and exploitation.

I don't have a recording unit anymore. not since my vcr and i don't know why I quit using that. I don't remember it dying... but maybe it did. my sister gave me her dvd player, but it isn't a recorder. I did buy a dvd recorder (maybe that's why I quit using the vcr), but it died not long after I got it, but of course, after any warranty on it expired. I've just lived without one since then - it's been about 8 yrs I think.

chloecat, I just got back from London yesterday and I saw little evidence of anything different happening, though I have to say I don't go into souvenir shops. Even on a visit to Windsor and the castle late last week, it was rather low key. Perhaps even quiet compared to other times I've been there. Maybe there's more going on as the day approaches.

I don’t do souvenir shops, either! Haha! Regent and Oxford Streets are decked out in Union Jacks swagged across the roads. Store windows have special displays, the front pages of all the freebie “news” papers are plastered with H/M photos, etc. The street vendors EVERYWHERE are also loaded down with wedding memorabilia, and TFL is constantly making announcements at all stations about the anticipated heavy use of transport on Saturday (plus the FA cup final is Saturday as well). It’s an exciting time to be in London if you’re a Royal or football fan. :)

Just came back from a walk with the dog. A neighbor has British flags decorating her home. I guess she will be watching.

I just read that the ceremony will be 12:00 local time. I think this means that for me it will be 7:00AM, so not too early.

I just read that Prince Charles will walk her down the aisle. That made me smile.

I saw the flags hanging across many streets, I guess I was too dense to get why they were there. There were pedestrian barriers along The Mall ( main Street in front of Buckingham Palace) too. I don't recall hearing congestion announcements on the Tube

I'm looking forward to watching the FA Cup final on Sunday (I'm a keen fan of the EPL and watch matches every week) but I think this one could be defensive and boring.

Our visits to London usually follow the pattern of theater-museum-theater-museum, etc. We saw a handful of great shows this time.

I had originally suggested to dd that she have a sleepover and her and her friends could make some goodies and dress up. One of her guy friends here has a cousin in the UK. Dd and her friends have become extended friends with the guys in the UK. The guys say they aren't interested so now dd and her friends aren't either. Lol! Gotta love teenagers.

I would have answered not me but up early as always and saw the arrivals. I liked that better than the ceremony and preaching. (just turned it off).
