Pink brick house, accent color dilemma
Comments (29)As others have said, there are simply too many, disparate forms, shapes, colors, textures, details, and tomfoolery! The best strategy, IMO, is to look for ways to unite and blend together as many of these unrelated objects as possible. Reduce the amount of contrast, don't increase it. Less is truly more. More is a bore!...See Morepainting my pink brick house
Comments (13)I learned this on a quilting Forum LOL: Color is secondary to value, which is the lightness or darkness of color. Easiest way I have found to check value is to look at the house through your camera viewfinder, on the black and white setting. Colors of the same value will look the same color! Colors that look very light and very dark give the most contrast. Your trim today is the same value as your brick, so neither color shows off the other one. You could go dark or very light. Since the brick is a cool tone, I think your idea of taupe and creamy or cool Browns is good, but if you wanted to paint everything on that house, except brick, a nice chalk white, it would be equally beautiful. Have fun!...See MoreHelp needed updating exterior of brick home. Not painting brick.
Comments (26)"Ideally, a primary or entry walkway should be at least 48" wide and even wider is [often] better." I concur 100%. Another consideration in addition to sheer usability, is that a walk's width needs to coordinate with the building architecture ... size being one of those characteristics. This walk does that in that it is equal to the full width of the opening at the porch. My guess is that the walk is 5' 4". I have no arbitrary opposition to straight walks, thinking that many of them are equal to curved walks in their potential to be beautiful. From what we are shown in the picture, either seems like it could work well. It would probably only be worth the expense of changing it if a person developed a compulsion about it, as compulsions cannot be explained by reason alone....See Morenew trim pain for pink or salmon colored brick
Comments (4)One other comment: the whole block seems to be painting their homes grey. It looks nice but I am little concerned of it all looking the same. I like the brown outlining of the triangle and trim. Is the white too stark? Perhaps I should also consider an ivory or lighter taupe for the windows?...See MorePeggy Johnson
