Foyer light help

I am looking for a farmhouse chandelier , or cage light . My foyer ceiling is 16 feet . What size should my light fixture range ? thanks a lot guys !

This really depends on the height of your foyer or entryway, though a good rule of thumb is to add up the width and length of the foyer in feet to find the ideal diameter or width of a light. For a typical ceiling height of 9 to 10 feet, make sure the bottom of the light is 7 feet above the floor. But since you have an extremely tall foyer, you may hang the light higher. I don't usually post here, but we put a Moravian star in our lakehouse, centered in the small window above the porch. It is 24 inches wide, and it fits the space perfectly. Here's a bad pic (only one I had) to illustrate it. Frankly, if I were you, I'd put it on your porch, where they were traditionally used. Your double window will obscure much of it, and will destroy the illusion of that window being part of the 2nd floor, making a more contemporary exterior appearance of a 2 story entry.

This space can be really charming with the fireplace hood. I agree with a sofa table and lamps and running the cords under the sofa so they wont be seen. Pull the sofa about 3" off the window so the drapery panels hang straight and I would remove the lights strung on the drapery panels. Lower the art piece that is hanging to the left of the sofa. Its too high. Its hard to see the whole room and what is on the other side but I would think about doing two consoles cabinets on either side of the fireplace with a mirror above each and a lamp. If that isnt possible then I would do a round table in the corner on the other side of the sofa with an additional lamp.

We are currently building a new home with 24 ft ceilings in the kitchen, it has been so hard to find lights that are long enough without splicing the wires for extra length. Take a look at Feiss brand fixtures, most come with 180" cord and you can buy the proper chain length from any lighting store if needed. AllModern is a site that has a search by hanging length which is great as well. I have read that the ideal width will be the dimensions of the room added together, example a 15 x 15 room would be best fit with a 30" wide fixture. There are other theories on this as well but this is the simplest.

The hallway where the Strada Chandelier is placed is a narrow 5'.5" x 12' with a 10' ceiling (I wish it was a more generously sized foyer but its a production built home in an over 55 community). Beyond the first 12' portion is a trimmed opening leading to the second 12' part of the hallway. It's all one long hallway with the trimmed opening dividing it into two parts. The second part of the foyer has two recessed lights. You're correct, the Strada Medium Chandelier is 28" wide. I hope that's a little bit helpful.
