polished nickel bathroom fixtures - do sconces have to match?

I have picked polished nickel sink and stall shower faucets for a guest bathroom remodel. The clear glass shower enclosure will also have polished nickel hardware. Do the vanity drawer pulls, sconces and mirror all need to be in the same finish?

No, it's pretty common to have one finish for the fixtures and something else for the rest, often more than one something else.

A matte gilded finish, a warm satin brass is fine. Other than that? Polished nickel looks best with MORE polished nickel. Sorry, it is the nature of nickel. Try a frameless mirror and add satiny burnished brass for pulls and sconces. Much depends the style in the bath.

I've never heard it's better to have the same finish throughout a house. I don't think that matters one bit. We have brushed nickel in our master bath and polished chrome in our kids bath. The kids fixtures are so much harder to keep clean b/c the polished finish shows water spots so much worse. I vote brushed or satin for that reason alone. I wanted that crisp shiny look of the polished chrome against the white counters and tub/tile in their bathroom. But if I had to do it over again, I'd go with satin/brushed just for the cleaning factor.

We did our faucets in chrome except for the cabinet latches, which weren't available in chrome so the cabinet guy substituted polished nickel. I think PN is gorgeous and I was tempted to go for it for all our fixtures but I am so glad I didn't...those stupid cabinet knobs tarnish if you so much as look at them the wrong way. I had to ask my husband to please be careful to only open them with clean dry hands (kind of annoying in a bathroom when you are applying makeup, lotion, etc.) I have heard there is a type of polish I can get to clean them up (brasstech is the name, I think) but I haven't ordered it yet. I need to do it though. If I had to do it over again, I would change the knob style before going with polished nickel -- I can see that they are going to be a serious maintenance headache over the years.

no, it wouldn't I mixed finishes in all my baths..looks pretty natural. I don't even think people notice..they just see bigger picture. Don't mix brushed nickel and polished nickel, or chrome and nickel, these are too close to mix successfuly. ORB is different enough from brushed nickel, and also gives that very neutral feel, it being dark..you should be fine. but you can also cross post your question in Home Decorating forum..there's usually where questions about colors etc. go. Or Bathrooms one..but Home Decorating has more traffic..you 'll get more responces

Lot’s of the nickel finishes I see are very close to looking like chrome and some manufacturer’s polished nickel has a lot more yellow. It all depends. You could do more of a pewter finish for your sconces. If you do a search here on Houzz for “Industrial polished chrome sconces”, there are lots that are along the lines of what you’re looking for. Hi Jan Moyer 4 years later! I have everything polished nickel because you are so right- other finishes don’t seem to work with it. (I do have frames for my paintings but they bring out the best in the painting so I’m not including that in my polished nickel everything else.)
Now I’m looking for soap dispensers and I’m having a hard time as the pumps are chrome, brass, black or ORB.
Any suggestions? Am I being too picky?

White. Or a color from the bath. Or Marble. : ) Or Glass. Or acrylic. Or black . Ignore the chrome "pump top " Four years with no soap dispenser??????

If you can't find something here? Use small guest soaps ?

Thank you! Will do one of choices-blue-and keep chrome pump and not be concerned that it is different from the polished nickel. Correct?
