I have asthma and yes, it does move the dust around...but...I didn't see it settle back on my furniture when I went crazy with it yesterday. lol. It's not for thick dust mind yoyu, only maintenence which keeps me from having to do the slat by slat dusting on the shutters. Plus, I like how I can take swipes on the walls and trim, along with the beadboard. Then I vacuum. :) I ended up ordering her Rubba Scrubba and I am impressed. It's like a brush made of soft rubber, and I've already gone over the fly screens outside and got the dust off, and it takes the dog & cat hair off the furniture, much easier than using one of those sticky things, but then again, you need to vacuum when you're done. Maybe I should work for Fly lady? lol

"Weeping-like honey-down the front door" doesn't sound like caulk - it sounds more like an adhesive or sealant that never sets. The heat from the sun is probably thinning it so it oozes out. Have you tried lacquer thinner? It contains several different solvents, just be careful around the plastic as it may attack it. And it may take the door paint off as well. As far as a good caulk, a paintable caulk that remains flexible and has a long guarantee/service life is probably what you want.

The only acceptable solution I've found is to drill into the vinyl casing and installed the inside mount blind that way. We have Atrium vinyl windows and this will void the warranty. But with only 1 year of warranty left, I'm not gonna worry about it. Had I realized this upfront, I would have done a better job on my homework and would have chosen a different vinyl window mfg. Window World in my area will allow you to drill and mount on the vinyl casing without voiding the warranty. But that is 20/20 hindsight. So a couple days ago we finally got tired of living in a fish bowl and ordered blinds for the recently renovated first floor.

I would soak them in a solution of very hot water and Oxyclean. Pull the blinds up to expose more of the pull cord. Put a ladder next to the window and place a bucket with the Oxyclean solution on the top of the ladder next to the pull cord. That will allow you to gather up the cord and get it in the bucket. After about 45 minutes, remove the cord, empty the bucket and replace with clear water to rinse.
