Vertical Blinds with Curtain, over sliding glass doors
Comments (3)Do you use the doors at all? I would use whatever decorative draperies or other window coverings that would look nice in your room and hang an outdoor shade, remote controlled, to block the sun and/or the view. I got one of these through Costco and it is very effective at blocking the sun/heat, but filtering the light so the room doesn't look too dark. I can see out in the daytime, but if there was anyone who had a view to that window, they could see in at night (it doesn't block that). But that's what I'd use my indoor draperies for. Sun setter blinds Can you do a drapery that pulls all the way to one side on a traverse rod, or that you can pull manually if they are mounted on rings? Comments (7)@Tasha F - You probably saw a photo of a sliding door that recessed back into a pocket and had a lot of depth. It's not very common and most sliding doors are like yours where there isn't enough pocket for an inside mount and the verticals have to mounted outside of the opening. They typically mount above the trim work with a bracket that is adjustable or spacer blocks are added to bring it out from the trim....See MoreHow in the world do I hang curtains up here?
Comments (12)This one's pretty and it goes almost to the ceiling. In fact, you want to mount them above the window so they come down to just below the top frame. That way you give the illusion of height and also preserve your beautiful sunshine. This is nice. They wall papered the vaulted wall with a paper that is very similar to the valance so it seems continuous and lush. Quite elegant. :-)...See MoreHaving trouble hanging a Roman blind from a curtain rod
Comments (8)Because there's nothing structured to hold everything in place. The roman should be attached to a covered 1x2 that's drilled into the wall, flat 2" side to wall and 1" facing the bottom, a couple inches on top of the trim. This way there's no gap at the sides. Drill right thru the 1x2, you don't need L brackets. Then screw eyes are drilled into the bottom of the 1x2 and the strings go thru them (the screw eyes are inserted before mounting to wall). ETA: There's no way to attach it to the window as is. I suppose you could mount a 1x? (whatever size would be needed to reach the back of the shade) with L brackets, as shown in the pic Ratherbesewing posted, under the rod and attached to the trim. Then add some flaps (in the shade fabric) to the sides, stapled on top of the board, to hide all this....See Moresophiecedw
