What do you think the new trend in kitchens will be?
Comments (26)Technology is opening some new doors. We can get backsplashes now that are customized with glass molded to order, or pictures we supply. This could explode into a whole new genre of customized surfaces. Kitchens today are surprisingly uniform - cherry/ss/granite/tumbled stone. It's time for a lot more uniqueness. First only the rich will do it, because it isn't very easy to sell a house with a backsplash of tiles that have your grandkids faces. It's going to take time to work out the possibilities, but I think it will spread. Kitchens will get a lot more interesting in personal ways, which will help offset the environmental and economic changes that are coming. Peak oil is going to make shipping granite and exotic timber really expensive sooner than we think. Counters from recycled glass or paper (Richlite) will become a requirement for the thinking and caring homeowner. True linoleum will look smart, wood will look wasteful. In the suburbs, we'll all need bigger pantries because we won't be able to afford to drive to the grocery store very often. We'll all be discussing ways to replace xenon/halogen/incandescent with LEDs and fluorescent. Sinks will evolve to accommodate water shortages and our big old farm sinks will look wasteful. The boomers are starting to downsize into smaller urban dwellings. Right now my KD friend at Lowe's tells me that the big lavish kitchens with lots of fancy woodwork are in the many suburban 'starter castles' that have sprung up recently. The focus is going to change to what urban Lowe's sell - smaller, more contemporary or sleek kitchens, or smaller kitchens that match the urban house's style - which is seldom French Provincial Grande, around here at least....See MoreWhat colour do you think my babies eyes will be?
Comments (3)That's hazel - same as mine :) With a blue eyed and a brown eyed parent, if the brown eyed parent is heterozygous ie a carrier of the blue gene (proven if she or he has a blue eyed child or known if one of their parents was blue eyed then they must carry the blue allele) there is a 25% chance of blue and 75% chance of brown. If the brown eyed parent is homozygous brown, all their children will have brown eyes but carry the blue allele as well (could have blue eyed children themselves). My father has blue eyes and my mother has dark chocolate brown, my siblings both have blue eyes and I have hazel so clearly my mother is heterozygous and also carries the blue allele which is covered by her dominant brown. But hazel eye genetics are not well understood, it is thought there are "modifier" genes that create a blend of pigments. http://genetics.thetech.org/ask/ask126...See MoreWhat do you all think about a refub laptops being sold ??
Comments (12)A couple years ago I purchased 2 Acer Ultrathin Laptops - Refurbished (Acer Aspire V5 573p-6896). These laptops have Intel i5 Processors, 4gb DDR3L RAM, 500gb Hard Drives, 1080p Touchscreen, Lighted Keyboard, 4 Speaker Dolby Home Theater, etc... with Window 8 installed. Both Laptops were in great shape and worked well (Every Feature Worked). I decided I wanted to Upgrade the RAM, maxing it out at 12gb. When I popped open the case I was surprised to find an Empty Slot for RAM and an Open Slot for a mSATA SSD Drive. Usually the manufacturers have 2 slots for RAM, both are used and if you want to upgrade the RAM you must replace it all! In this case, all I had to do was to purchase an 8gb Stick. Found another feature on these laptops I overlooked. These came equipped with a Thunderbolt Port Connection. These Ports were set to Replace USB (not sure if they still are or not)? It's my understanding around 7 devices can be run from One Thunderbolt Port (Daisy Chained). Whereas a USB, One Port, One Device! I decided to Upgrade both Laptops with a 256gb mSATA SSD Drive and keep the 500gb Hard Drives in the laptops and set them up just for storage (I did upgrade mine from a 5400rpm to a 7200rpm)! Both of these computers have turned into very nice computers with an SSD Drives for the Operating System (Upgraded to Windows 10). My Sister also purchased one of these Laptops. She too has been very happy with it. We paid $350 each for the Laptops. Then I paid around another $120 for the RAM and mSATA SSD Drive, Approx. $470 in each computer! All are still running great after 2 years!...See MoreWhat do you think about people and dog all being sick?
Comments (34)I wanted to give an update. Since this all happened, 2 weeks ago. I've been very strict with her and watching her like a hawk at the dog park. I gave her back the raw hides and she experienced no ill effects from that, that was a week ago. Then, just yesterday I decided it had been long enough to try giving her ONE of those Old Mother Hubbard treats, they are very small...like a puppy sized biscuit. Today she has diarrhea again! I think I found the culprit! Hopefully just the one tiny treat will just work its way through her system and she will be OK. I knew that I had just opened a brand new bag of these right before she got sick, she has been eating this same brand and variety for a couple years now. It was one of the only things she could eat without issues and she LOVED them. I don't know if they changed the recipe and added something that makes her bowels upset or if they are contaminated? I just contacted the company to explain what happened. I'll let you know how they handle this....See Morewildchild2x2
