Do you converse equally with all of your grown children?

I am currently experiencing the transition of my youngest child moving out. Firstly, I want to express my sorrow for any of you who are estranged from a child and cut off from communication. I can't imagine having to cope with that. But for those of you who can communicate with your grown children, I was wondering if you communicate equally with all of them?

Although I am more of an emotional mess with my youngest moving out, than I was with his eldest sibling leaving, I realize it is because there were still more children at home, before. But now the absence of my youngest will mean no more children here, and the inevitable change that will transpire without his constant laugh, loud music and friends gathering in my home. However, in sentimental thoughts of late (no doubt triggered by my son moving out and seeing the grief of Michael Jackson's mother) I am aware that although I will miss the physical presence of all 3 of my children equally, the loss of closeness impacts me more with the moving away of my sons, than with my DD. This is only because my DD, who lives 200 miles away, phones me every day and we chat for about 30 minutes, which keeps me completely up to date with her life and almost feeling like I actually see her every day. Being the only other female in the family, we have always had 'girlie' conversations about the trials and tribulations she experiences with her 4 roomates, and also the joys and woes of her dating and work experiences, etc.

My sons, on the other hand, have never cared much for the telephone, although they are good conversationalists in person. My eldest son only phones about once a week, and even at that, the conversations are generally 15 minutes or less. I have had to accept our once weekly conversations, because I don't want to impose my desire to converse more often, on a son who feels daily trivial things aren't worth mentioning. Both he and my youngest son joke that they don't see how my daughter and I can possibly have enough new things to share in daily conversations. So I'm already preparing myself for the loss of communication I will experience when my youngest moves out today. Do you converse equally with all of your grown children?
