Burro's Tail I think
Comments (7)Hi Chris, Generally it's best to start a separate thread for a new question, but ... In response, take any remaing leaves & place them ON TOP OF, not in, a fast draining mix (or some of its original soil), they don't need rooting hormone. Give them bright, indirect light & leave them alone for a while (in upstate NY, your brightest window would do OK). DO NOT WATER until you see new growth, then water lightly or maybe mist the surrounding soil only, not the plant (it will rot it). Over time, they'll start growing little rootlets & or baby leaves. Sorry to hear of this loss, but pls. know that no amount of fussing over this will help this along. I often accidentally knock leaves off mine while reaching for something else. I just throw the leaves on top of the mix & forget abt them for a month or so, then I check back & start watering when I see a bit of new growth. Good luck!...See MoreRepotting a Burro's Tail
Comments (23)From the original post, just a bit of gold: "From what I've read I gather adding sand-box sand to regular soil based potting mix would be of no benefit?" It is really good for people to know the difference size makes. perrjojo, The only reason I can see right now would be lack of light. I think we would all appreciate a picture, as it will help to correctly identify your problem (or lack thereof). For future reference, it is a bit more polite to start your own thread if you have a question that needs answering. ~palmsandsnow...See MoreBurro's Tail repot massacre and other happier adventures in repotting
Comments (4)I also just started collecting and taking an interest in cacti/succulents. I find them to be so very unique, interesting & fun plants to collect. Being that I also live right of the Houston area, I to am looking around different places in hopes of finding unique plants to add to what I already have. Been reading here and getting to where I am making my own gritty mix as well for these plants in hopes of taking better care of my new babies. Can you send me some places that you have come across that have unique succulents? My usual places are just Home Depot & Lowes. I went over to Cornelius, but not very much of a selection on their succulents there. Good luck growing you new plants.....See MoreWhat's going on with my burro's tail?
Comments (5)It is very etiolated IMO. Leave are growing too far apart. It could be Sedum morganianum, but not easy to be sure while it is in this shape. Cut I down - behead, and give it more light. Once it starts growing more compact, it will be easier to ID. Agree with sg that S, morganianum is trailing plant. Watering 100ml/week doesn't make much sense to me. Water thoroughly when time is to water - best to check mix deep inside the pot. Here are some cuttings of S. morganianum - see how close are the leaves. These are cuttings, that have been in dappled shade for a while, left to callus. Btw, they get watered more often than 1x/week. It depends on temps, how good is drainage (should be OK in your case)....See Morevrl206
