Anyone have Kitchenaid Convection Micro? Anyone???
Comments (4)I do! I do! I have a 27" MW/convection (without the oven underneath). I can tell you the good and the bad about it. Mainly I bought it because it matched my KA slide-in range and DH would not let me get another conventional oven. To me, it is a really expensive toaster oven. Here's the bad: - the microwave is underpowered. 900W is less than my old OTR microwave. You will notice it's lack of power when you go to pop popcorn - it is extremely hard to clean the faux stainless steel interior. The ceiling of mw has gunk on it that I just can't get off. - one of my pet peeves - no button to turn the turntable off (maybe they've changed this since I bought mine). To put a 9x13 pan in there you have to physically dismantle the turntable to the pan will bang into the sides of the oven. The good: - it pre-heats really fast (much faster than a conventional oven). - comes in handy for baking frozen snacks for the kids (I would never cook any kind of meat in there though, because it is too hard to clean the interior walls. I have had a few service issues with it in the five years: The interior light burned out. Requires a service call to fix it! Costly light bulb replacement. The rod in the door hinge has busted two times. You know when this happens because you hear "snap" when the pull the door down and there is no longer any tension in the door. Let me know if you have any other questions....See MoreAnyone have macular degeneration or know anyone that does?
Comments (16)My DH has this. He is no longer able to drive. He is diabetic and went through a period of denial - quit taking his meds, etc. He neglected his eyes and this is the result of that. Had they caught it sooner, he would be able to see better. For now, he gets injections in his eyes and laser eye surgery. He has had several of each since the first of last year. He uses magnifying glasses all the time. We just keep them laying around everywhere. His eyes are both better than when he was first diagnosed. They aren't promising anything, but as long as he keeps having small improvements and they continue the treatment, we are thankful. Bad thing is that we were planning to retire early, but now we can't. I have to continue to work to get health insurance until I am 65. I have a heart condition and he has diabetes and the eye problem. We are both uninsurable for all practical purposes. That is what hurts both of us. We worked so hard saving to retire and having enough to do a lot of traveling. Now - who knows. But, you caught yours early, so you should be in good shape. Just be sure you go to the doctor often to have them checked....See MoreAnyone have or have experience with the Ikea Kivik Sofa?
Comments (12)I have 2 Karlstad couches in leather with Aluminum legs in my family room. They get a lot of use and abuse from couch potatoes, food, cats (with claws) etc. They look brand new even though they are a few years old. I don't have any problems with the back cushions because they are velcroed into place and never move. We had looked at the Kivik in leather but I didn't like how the arms are wider and lower. Personal choice, I felt they weren't in proportion with the couch. Otherwise it was comfortable and our second choice....See MoreAnyone have a built in coffee center? See they have ones that use pods
Comments (2)I have the built-in Miele coffee machine. Our is a plumbed version so we don't have to fill the water reservoir. You still have to add beans, empty grounds/waste and do maintenance on the machine, such as cleaning and descaling. I don't drink coffee, but DH does and it was the only thing he asked that I include in the kitchen remodel. He seems to be happy with it! This is the model we have: https://www.mieleusa.com/domestic/coffee-machines-2522.htm?mat=09676930&name=CVA_6805...See More- 8 years agolast modified: 8 years ago
