Anyone have or have experience with the Ikea Kivik Sofa?

Here is a photo. I wondered if you did or had sit in one, if you liked it. Any suggestions are appreciated! I need to purchase two sofas for my new home. I do not want to spend a fortune but want it to be comfy and strait lines.

I am wide open to suggestions and opinions etc.

We have a kivik.

What I like: cosy, deep seating, modern looking, fun slipcovers, seems fairly sturdy, the seat cushions.

What I don't like: I find the back cushions tend to plump down, so it can look kind of shlumpy. That said, my husband is a big guy and like a max-lounger, so this may not happen to you if you don't abuse your couch.

Edit - put another way, the back cushions are soft foam don't have a ton of structural integrity so they can get droopy and need frequent rotation. I wish they had used firmer foam.

They dont actually say their furniture is made in NC, only that the business is still located in NC. Actually its all made in China.

Massoud! I have one and have 4 kids 3 teenagers, I have had for 7 yrs and it looks like I just got it. Not sure where you live, but they may have a web site to tell you. I know Haverty's had them, maybe a store could get you one. Anyway, I am sold on them and they have great fabrics. Good Luck!

Thanks guys. I guess we could return the cover and get a different colour. We've already got a couple of hours invested in putting the darn thing together and part of me is just too darn lazy to take it apart, send the cover back and wait for the new one to arrive. I looked at the Bemz site and I think we would have to take it apart to get their slip cover on as well. I might just make one that would slip over the whole frame and be easier to launder. The cushion covers will be easy to wash, it's just the large white arms that I'm really worried about, but maybe I'll just make arm covers for now and see how that works. I could do them in a bright funky fabric to sort of coordinate with toss cushions. Shouldn't have started assembling it at night after a long day at work. I dropped it on my toe to boot. I'm sure once the right parts come and we can actually sit on it, I won't feel so bad about it.

Anyone have experience with polyester sofas that look like leather?

I am vegan (cannot use a leather or down sofa), and have a slipcovered fabric sofa. I do not want to have a slipcovered sofa anymore, but I have 4 very active boys, that drag in mud and dirt. They do not eat on the sofa. I saw a polyester sofa on Wayfair that is supposed to be easy to clean, looks like leather but is not leather or bonded leather or PU leather. https://www.wayfair.com/furniture/pdp/greyleigh-cainsville-sofa-gryl5498.html Does anyone have experience with this fabric? Is this fabric really easy to clean? Is it durable? Thanks for your help.

Also consider the Karlstad. I personally find it a bit more comfy and prefer the less bulky arm rest. I'd probably replace the legs with metal or stain the wood legs, though.
I also really, really like the Stockholm sofas.

Based on looks, I'm fairly certain it was the Kivik that I sat on the other day at an IKEA store while waiting for DH. It was very comfortable (in leather). Obviously, I can't speak for the longevity of the back cushions, but for a few minutes' rest, it was great!

I have 2 Karlstad couches in leather with Aluminum legs in my family room. They get a lot of use and abuse from couch potatoes, food, cats (with claws) etc. They look brand new even though they are a few years old. I don't have any problems with the back cushions because they are velcroed into place and never move.

We had looked at the Kivik in leather but I didn't like how the arms are wider and lower. Personal choice, I felt they weren't in proportion with the couch. Otherwise it was comfortable and our second choice.

I think that's what I have in my rec room (not at home right now). We are happy with it. The back cushions are a little slumpy, but not too bad. The pull out bed is a little strange - I think it is only good for kids.

we have kivik and love it. looks way sturdier and better made than some of our other ikea stuff. Oddly our back cushions are very sturdy and don't slump at all. we got ours about 3 years ago and it has worn extremely well. we also have karlstadt but it is a much smaller sofa

I know you may have already made a decision about this but we pit our new Kivik together last night and it is very firm but I've added lots of cuddly pillows and it seems to be fine for our TV room. Good luck!

I am considering getting the Kivik sofa and found it comfortable. What I also like is the fact that one can rotate the cushions, the light grey fabric is machine washable, and makes the perfect background for a bunch of colorful pillows.

I just bought toady Ikea's kivik fabric sofa whith Chase. I picpicked up at a Kitchener store and put everything together ( waited 2 weeks for it) I am very disappointed.One of the back cushion is flat and it looks like it has been used already.

This couch is about a firm as has ever existed... except maybe that rock one in the Flintstones home. If thats what you consider comfortable, then you'll love it.
