Need advice on reinforcing my rustic arbor.

My husband and kids gave me a rustic arbor for mother’s day. It looks kind of like this,

Here it is in the back of the truck ready to be transported to our mountain cabin.

As you can see it comes apart at the center for transport. They had it together by winding garden twine to join the sections.

So I’d like to make it last as long as possible so want to do some reinforcing when we set it up.

So is copper wire a good option instead of the twine? I will also add some copper wire at the corners and anywhere it looks like it will get stressed.

Also, would you treat it with some sort of sealer to help the wood last as long as possible.

My plan is to place the feet on stone tiles to keep them out of the dirt.

Im not sure what the wood is, we think poplar for the supports but no idea about the curvy wood.
