Garage studio layout
Comments (50)As far as I understand it, you do not have inside corners downstairs, only upstairs. Downstairs you have a complete rectangle. So the stairs will land relative to the wall the same in your version as my version (maybe something like the red line. Where they do not land the same is relative to the door. However, there is nothing to say at this point that the door to the upstairs isn't on the ocean side of the house instead of on the driveway. You could have two, or have a door only on the yard side, not the driveway side. But it might make sense to have the entrances to each completely separate anyway. The green door is the one that's there, but I don't know if there is anything stopping you from having a door in the blue position....See MoreKitchen layout in carriage house studio apt
Comments (28)Thinking about what everyone has said and how people use a kitchen when on vacation. The house is halfway between 2 small but cool little mountain towns. Great restaurants and shopping, so I think anyone renting would probably go out for dinner at least once or twice. So probably will use this kitchen for breakfasts. I made the kitchen back into a U. If I could, I would make that window a door and add a small deck to have a grill. I like the idea if the dining table being a sofa table with the option of pulling it out to seat more if needed. This also gives me the option of adding a bar overhang on the peninsula. It is only 12" deep, which isn't ideal but it should suffice....See MoreSeeking advice on studio layout

Comments (11)The new bed and shelf placement is perfect, away from the window and blocked from the door. Move your dresser to the angled wall between the bed and the desk area, where it would also function better. Scoot your desk back toward the wall so you have more space in the living area. I might try the sofa against the wall, facing the desk, and the chair angled toward it under the small photos on the wall. Replace the small photos with a large canvas print, a large poster, or another wall hanging. Place your floor lamp on the wall to the right of the window. I think you need to add an end table and table lamp next to the sofa, and a small end table and tall narrow table lamp next to the bed. Or even a clip on light for the head of your bed. Lighting makes a huge difference in the feel of the room....See MoreLampert Dias Architects, Inc.
