1 YEAR LATER AND STILL EMPTY ENTRY WAY
Comments (11)Wells bells Amy... If you still have those couple arched mirrors from other postings and haven' filled those holes with sconces yet.. And YES! you can still build in a big ole bookshelf in that area too.. Get radical. Put up those mirrors to center on new sconces- it will require some glass cutting to do it. Find a good local cabinet/wood maker to build you a centerpiece of a bookshelf upper, with some lower bench/sitting bits. I would suggest doing it up on legs instead of flush to the floor. And keep the woodwork in mind, fit the whole thing to that, like it was always built in there. If the opposite? wall of other posts of yours still have that gorgeous framework and hanging lights... Open that up too with mirrors, perhaps a coathook/ bench space to mirror the bookcase.. but not necessarily the same mirrors- coordinate rather than match. Hanging lights to work with the sconces on the bookcase wall....See MoreAdvice to refresh our front entrance
Comments (4)I love a cat slide roof! Because it's the same color as the roof and trim, it sort of disappears. I would stain the cedar white, remove all the posts and replace with a simple 6 x 6 square post, just enough of them to support the roof. You may need to add a header. Replace the tile with a bluestone or slate either real or tile look alike....See MoreEntry way help needed
Comments (14)I’m feeling like I should have checked in with HOUZZers before ordering anything! You’re all sending me great thoughts…lesson learned. Since my move here, I’ve wanted a rug. But I love my floors (then why do I want to cover them?) …I wanted to add color. We’ve removed the old-world looking swivel chairs from the wine closet and put up our wine barrel (came from our home in fingerlakes wine region). I do feel that the entry is dark after the sun goes over the house and I wanted a welcoming feel in the foyer…thinking rug, table, lamp. A mirror would not reflect the gate because it would be in the same wall. The table I ordered is going to really fill that space and perhaps the scale won’t be right. The rug? I probably didn’t make the best choice on either. The rug should arrive this week so I’ll post pictures upon arrival. Table is going to take 16-20 weeks, perhaps I have time to reconsider or look for another spot for it. Please keep the ideas coming! I really appreciate all the suggestions....See Morebest way to refresh/refinish old oak kitchen cabinets
Comments (5)"IF" you have more than a little experience with stains and clear coats and have the desire to advance to another level,I might be able to help. If you are only looking for the easiest way of doing something with the cabinets,I'll leave it to others who trod that path....See Moreoaktonmom
