Design ideas for basement bath
Comments (11)That sink is incredible! Do you know anyone who welds? That looks like old iron fence or window grates. If you can find something similar at Habitat for Humanity ReStore or an estate sale or salvage yard or something, perhaps you could have it welded together into a custom base for less money. This wall decal is cool, and even better would be an actual window grate or mirror in that shape. I didn't have much luck getting images when I googled "gothic bathroom", but then I thought of steam punk, which as been popular recently and shares some elements. "steam punk bathroom" got many more useful images, and has elements that seem likely to appeal to a man. www.kellyskitchensync.com has Steampunk Sunday posts with some cool bathroom fixtures. How about getting a few decorative tiles to intersperse with your on-hand tile? Here is a link that might be useful: Cool bronze accent tiles...See MoreI bought wallpaper (my designer inspired beachy boho bedroom so far)
Comments (2)My SO is in home building and remodeling, he says that bamboo is very popular, although so is the pergo type stuff. But if it was a small room, I would go with a real natural product. My brother did a cork floor in his bedroom, he likes it but it was very difficult to install and you have to seal it He likes it because it is less allergenic than carpet and soft underfoot. He installed it himself with a friend helping him. Bamboo has a beachy feel, but I would be concerned that because it has such a strong grain that it would fight with the rug and walls. I might seriously consider cork. But another option is real linoleum, (the kind made from wood) because it is very similar to cork and does not require the sealing. They look very similar....See MoreTile design for period-inspired bathroom
Comments (0)We are adding a bath to our house, which is a 1900 four square We would like the bathroom to fit reasonably well with the period of the house found a picture from 1911 that I absolutely love My question is, can I expect a regular tilemason to be able to replicate the detailed tile work? If it is a specialist project, how would I find the right person? We are in the Boston metro area, if that helps. Thanks for for your help!!...See MoreLandscape design inspiration
Comments (14)I'd plant a deciduous shade tree of enough mature size to balance the size of the house in the center rear of the half circle between the house and garage. By filling and obscuring the gap between the house and garage it would make the whole appear more integrated. Of course it will take a long time to size up but even if you leave while it is still developing it might be seen as an enhancement by the next buyer. The right corner of the house also needs something of some size planted there to soften it. The lilacs can be dug when dormant (leafless) and used elsewhere on the property. Just not together in an identical pair. As always there is really only so much discussion this format lends itself to and it may soon get to the point where you really need somebody working in your service area to come out and help you in person. In the meantime you will always need to make it clear what you are asking about - where, specifically you are thinking about having a wall, for instance - and show plenty of good views of the areas being mulled over in order to get useful responses here....See MoreCelery.
