Something I did in my guest bedroom while waiting for the perfect pieces of art was to get a photo calendar with pictures I like and buy some simple black frames. I had a set of four, looked pretty good. The one I had was Japanese watercolor art. Later, I bought two large beach watercolors. I love the beach and I found having beach pictures in the bedroom very relaxing! I like landscapes, but if you don't, then by all means don't. I had some landscapes in my bedroom, but moody ones. One was a cabin glowing with firelight covered by a huge amount of snow illuminated pink by a sunset. Just the perfect spot I would have liked to be and since the snow made it impossible to get in or out of the place, it just evoked peace and relaxation or me. To a Floridian it might have been a living nightmare, lol. Later it was a little homestead cabin on top of a hill, a woodcut. When I went full on beach in one room, I had the typical tropical desert island scene, which also says relax, no interruptions. Landscapes can be very abstract too, my friend's daughter does very abstract landscapes. I'm not trying to sell her stuff, just including a link because I think she does beautiful work and it's a good example of "out of the box" landscapes. I would love some kind of sculpture made to look like tree branches, but again, that's just me.

It was so nice to come home from a work trip and look at this wide range of designs. They are each so nice in their individual ways. Beverly, your room reminds me of a luxurious hotel. Very elegant. PBH, your bedroom is so sweet and nostalgic. I would be very comfortable in it. Kswl, I am especially in love with your room. Soft green is one of my most favorite colors, and that bedroom is so pretty and feminine without being too sweet/fluffy. Palimpsest, you have such a great eye for traditional fabrics and furniture combined in a fresh way. Each of your bedrooms are both tasteful and interesting. I love the scenic wallpaper. Cawaps, I was so surprised by your first room being pink and floral, although it was very pretty! In my mind, you are much more modern, so I had to laugh when I saw your comment, and second design. Not a pro. How big is your bed? This is pretty key - this room is not very large, and probably not large enough for a wardrobe. Plus, for smaller rooms I think lower furniture looks better and makes the space look larger (think low boy dresser). Here's the math. If you have a queen bed and put it on the 112" wall, you will only have space for 24" night stands, which are pretty small. You will have 65" at the foot of the bed, which should be enough space for a low boy depending on how big your bed frame is. If you have a king, you'll only be able to use tiny tables (16"), but you wouldn't have much space to walk between the bed and the closet. If you put the bed on the 145" wall, you'll block a window but will have more space for night stands (42.5" on each side for a queen, 34.5" for a king). Unfortunately, this will not afford much space for any additional furniture since you need space to walk. If you snug the bed up against the low wall with a 24" night stand, you would have 45" left (king bed) or 61" with a queen. You could put a low boy dresser on the 112" wall, in that case. But it will be cramped if you have a king bed (dresser takes up 20", and pulling drawers out will leave even less room). You probably do not have space for more furniture than that. Also, all of this is measuring to the size of the mattress, not the bed, which takes up a few inches on its own. Since you don't watch TV in your room often, I would forgo that.

Thank you Patricia I let her talk me into it. I found out after when I bought it . I was sad to see the man hand her a check. I payed 1400.00 to buy and to tear down the next day. I hated it. I am so so mad that I let her convince me it was going to be as she said"DREAMY". It was dreamy but my dreams were night mares. Please help me now start fresh. I orderd that bed because I sold my house in hamptons and wanted my old bedroom set . In that beach house it was gorgeous. Here 5 years later and special order it is very cheap version and I cannot change . My husband wants to keep it. I agree I didnt want the night stands husband wanted nightstand.s If I did anything It would be to paint over the grey inside with shabby paints. But lets move forward. Now that I tore it down. I have a blank canvas. I feel like a fool to trust her decorator;s advice and go against my gut feeling yellow was always wrong. Here are my related spaces right from the living room you can see this and the yellow was garrish and it looked like baby diaper gold. lol MY whole original theme was to do an amazing wallpaper that made you go wow! I still can because they took off the wallpaper and it is preppred now for wall paper or I have to prep for paint (more costly but I can go that way) My condo on the beach I forget to mention it was california king and I orderd just king and it looks so little kids and this looked gorgeous in my beach home.
