Hi catkin & svs128, The tiles are Isole from Oregon Tile & Marble. Since we were going to do two of the walls all the way up, we wanted the variance of hand-molded tile. We're very pleased with the ones we got, but I think any hand-molded tile would give the same effect. There are also some faux hand-molded tiles out there these days that have similar variance and are much cheaper. We almost used one for our kitchen from a local tile store (Seattle Tile), so ask around at yours. We used epoxy grout (spectra lock?). Not sure about the exact grout color, but maybe almond? The ceiling vent cover is really a heat register cover. It came from Signature Hardware, but any register cover will work. I saw that trick in a magazine somewhere and from then on decided I couldn't do the plastic covers that come with the fans. Note that my contractor did put some beefier support up there to hold it in place (as it's a little bit heavier than the plastic ones). The floor tile came from Dal Tile (www.daltile.com). We got the outside square tiles in a preset pattern, so they were very easy for our tile guy to install. They will do any pattern you can imagine, and then repeat it and give it to you in sheets. The hexes in the middle came in full white sheets, so our tile guy pulled out some white ones by hand and put in the black ones for the flowers. The sinks came from Rejuvenation (rejuvenation.com). Unfortunately, they didn't have their sinks shown on their website when we bought ours, but they have them for sale in their Seattle store. I'm not even sure what box they came in or who the real manufacturer is, but the folks that work there are very helpful there, and I'm sure they would tell you over the phone. Glad you like it- we had a lot of fun doing it, and think we came out with something that's functional in a modern way, but has the appearance of a traditional room. Just finished tiling my bathroom and I too will be installing a contemporary dark cabinet (American standard studio.. http://www.americanstandard-us.com/products/productDetail.aspx?id=1925) but instead it will a have squared sink also sitting on top of a glass counter top. I wanted to somehow tie in the color of the glass tiles and counter top and this is the combo I came up with. my wife and just about anybody who has seen the bathroom absolutely loved it. Ill try and post some pics. Just spoke to tilers and there is cement board going down before tile. That will bring it higher so we don't have the gap problem we had last time. There is hardwood going down in the hallway, but I think it should be a pretty even transition once the cement board goes in. If its a bit higher we can add a threshold of some sort. These guys are so brilliant I keep forgetting they know what they are doing. The last guy I had doing the tiling didn't have a clue.

I've seen Pratt and Larson making a custom order from a customer's piece of vintage trim (I'm sure it hardly cost a thing...). So if you can dream it, and pay for it, I'm sure they can create it for you. Their standard trim is likely worth a look. [They'll also do custom colors, but have a pretty significant range as it is!] Lots of great points, sources, and tips upthread. I think for me the #1 thing that makes me question "old? new?" is tile with color variation. Most people don't/can't spend the money for handmade, and even in white/cream the gradations in color are so pretty. You may have already considered this but before I went to all the trouble of sourcing tiles I'd definitely have rough estimates from your tile artisan. Your dream bath may be 20K in tile + (tile) labor cost -- which may be fine, or may mean a revamp. BTW, I've used the Americh Bow double apron in a project. Downside (purist/preference), not cast iron. Upside, a true soaker depth (most of the corner salvage tubs in my area are much more shallow). ps One of my favorite mansions is this 1914 one -- and check out the tile work: pretty low-key!
