Guess what?? not 48 hrs later they are looking like NEW PLANTS! not wilting at all now. The leaves are looking much better and the vine itself is stronger. YEAAAA! I am not going to do anything until roots form on it, but I am thinking of just keeping it in water. I have a real nice vase for it later on if I decide to do that. But yeah- even my husband was impressed with it today. pirate, yes that is what it is- a Philodendron "Brasil" I guess some spell it with a "z", is it right either way? I wanted it bushy and not just viney, so "someone" told me to pinch it, like you would for a Potho, so I did, it didn't really hurt it any, and it is bushy, just kinda growing all over the place- lol. But thats all good. I am just going to leave it alone now and let it vine out. Lesson learned. Oh and I finally got some rocks and pie pans for my little homemade humidifiers. So far so good. (for outside anyway) I think they like it. :) only problem is now, the cat wants to drink the water out of the pans! I would also assume that it is legal in PA, but you can always check with your cooperative extension and see what they say. You mentioned that your slope is southfacing, so I assume that it gets sun. That should make it easier than a shady site to get something to grow. I am probably not the best expert, but what about forsythia bushes? The one I have in my backyard is prolific without being uncontrollable and I think would be deeply rooted enough to help stabilize the slope. Also I would think that they would be fairly inexpensive and common at the big box stores so that you could get a bunch in without breaking the bank. My other thought was some low growing evergreen bushes. I have some on my sunny slope and they are doing quite well. For the shaded portion of my slope I am looking at planting some hydrangeas (once I get the ivy out) and maybe some ferns. Litrope would also be a good choice and is sold at the box stores. I would consider digging it up now while it is not completely established and not out of control. Like a misplaced tree, it will just get to be a bigger proble to solve later if it is left to flourish now. Plus I would expect to find it establishing other places in your yard (far from where it is planted) and becoming a problem in many spots. Last, I know that in my english ivy is where the poison ivy starts. I only have poison ivy where the English Ivy is and that is a bigger problem! Proximity is obviously a factor, but a lot of times, people see the symptoms a while after the disease was actually passed to the plant and thrips are gone. You often see one or two plants here and there in a field affected while neighboring plants are fine. I would keep it separated from other plants and monitor carefully. Right now, it's far more likely to be nutrient deficiency. It's just that TSWV is possible, so I think alertness is called for. Without more definitive symptoms, I'd keep a plant that was continuing to produce well that has a high likelihood of just needing more fertilizer. I would at least see how it responds to a good feeding and whether new growth after feeding looks healthy. In an in-ground situation where the plant couldn't be distanced from its neighbors, maybe the calculation would be different. Others may disagree, of course, as TSWV does have a wide host range, so it's not just tomatoes that are at risk. I can only tell you what I'd do in your shoes.

I've never grown this particular Plectranthus w/ the purple underside ... but, I think this may be sunburn. I think this wants bright, but indirect light. Also, is it thirsty?
