Swedish ivy failing to thrive ? I MUST be an idiot

Marta is her name and I love her dearly. She lived in a shade tent and was tremendously full but rope-y/leggy and in need of some pruning when I brought her home. Moved her into a nice vintage macrame hanger in front of a sheer curtain covered north facing window. I've watered her every 5ish days (was told to let her dry out) and mist her occasionally (she was in a corner with many succulents and some Dracaena)...also pruned her repeatedly to thin out those legs and get some bushiness going. Marta is giving me crumbling brown leaves or teeeeeeny tiny variegated lovelies that look afraid. We co-habitate in coastal southeast Georgia where it's 100 on a cool day and even shade is smotheringly humid. Should she be outside under a tree? In a dank closet? Cut down to her ankle bones?? Help us! Please see photos. Many thanks to you all. We're at the end of our Hindu rope.
