Help can you ID this green bush perennial?
Comments (3)This is not a "bush" or a shrub. It is some kind of perennial. It looks like tansy as suggested by your post on the Name that Plant forum....See MoreOT: Butterfly Bush
Comments (17)Strouper, I also think that zones have something to do with it, but also the kind of winter you have and where the plant is situated. So many things come into play with this plant. Trudi, The one which I have which grows from the branches grew to 10 feet last year and was huge. They are quite stunning when they are that size! Bonny, One trick I use to find out if they are OK is to scratch a bit off the branch and see if there is green underneath. Do this at about the 6" mark, and remember that if one branch has 'died', another may not have. If there's no sign of life in any of them, trim back, but leave the plant there for a while yet as it may still grow from the base....See MoreOT: Can anyone ID this plant
Comments (18)Karyn, it was an oxalis, but it did not look like the others. It has a thick body, with like thorns on it. I planted it at the coast, and left the name next to it. It is not listed on the invoice, so I have no idea, I think it started with the letter g. I planted it in the sun, I am going down this weekend, and will contact them if they do not recover. The amaryllis, had 3 long leaves, the middle one was completely cooked, and just mush, the outside leaves were green, I cut it back. I will let you know how they are when I get back. I just received some plants from Puerto Rico, they are over a foot tall, they were the same price, these are replacements for the ones that I cooked in my greenhouse, when I first got it. I did the same thing Kristi did, when she got hers. I also cooked my rooted brugmansaia that I got from my secret santa, I guess that is how we learn.....See MoreOT Can you ID this?
Comments (12)He will be a Giant Swallowtail Butterfly when he grows up. I get lots of them here. If you touch them they will send up thier red antennae and release a stinky smell to scare off thier predators lol. My kids think its fun to do that. We call them the bird poo crews because that's what they look like :D Here is a link that might be useful: bird poo caterpillar :P...See MoreLisa Adams
