Ok...I just copied what it said I needed from the instructions. The installation from my old Dell was all on one disk. I'd be afraid I'd mess up the installation if it ended up on multiple CDs. Maybe I should say that there would be more chance for error on my part. The instructions also said that the USB key should have a minimum capacity of 8 GB. Well, when I go to Control Panel, I see there are 45 programs now with total space of 1.12 GB. So what gives with them saying I need a minimum of 8GB? I'm guessing that it would all go on one of the disks at the link below. About them...it says, "This recordable DVD features AccuCORE technology which is 100x more scratch resistant than standard discs. Well, if you open up the Picture It program, you should be able to find out the name of one of the picture files. Then go into Explorer (not Internet Explorer) and search on the name for your whole C: drive. That will allow you to identify the folder where the pictures are located. Then copy and paste them all to the flash drive. Don't cut and paste them as you want to leave the originals on the old computer in case something gets messed up doing the transfer. One other thing important thing. I'm not very familiar with the Picture It program, but believe it saves copies of photos with a ".mix" extension. You may not be able to open these files on the new computer without the help of a program that can convert these files to another format. It might be best to install such a program on the old computer, and convert all the files to a more common format like".jpg" before you move them. A long time ago, I did a Mint Mate install(actual install, not live) onto a 16GB Gigaware USB flash drive. It booted slow as molasses and the first time running apps was just as slow. It ran fine afterward though. I considered getting a faster flash drive such as a SanDisk Extreme, but it wasn't it my budget at that time. I seem to remember playing around with bcd.exe but my memory is short. Some day I'll have to give EasyBCD a try. In the meantime, GRUB works for me. An extraordinarily boring (and embarrassing, mostly because I flubbed customizing GRUB2 because I'm too lazy to learn to use it properly right now) video of my installing Mint Mate alongside Windows 10 in a virtual machine... I suppose the point is that they can, at least sometimes, live happily beside one another. I was really expecting Mint Mate to offer to "install alongside windows" and auto-partition but it did not. Don't some other Ubuntu based distros do that? Or is it just full blown Ubuntu? Anyway, after all my stumbling, doing it incorrectly, redoing etc., Grub now reads exactly the way I want, remembers the previous boot choices etc. ... That's just a virtual machine though. I wouldn't suggest others try it on their real machines. I suppose if one were to practice setting up a dual boot system, a virtual environment would be the safe place to learn, right? BTW, I used Oracle's VirtualBox in the above videos. Free and open source. Oops, I just read the warning on the VirtualBox download page: "Please be aware that Windows 10 is not yet officially supported!" Oh well, seems to run fine for me.

Thanks for the suggestions, both of you. I tried that earlier, Richard, and see some things, but not all. It's weird . . . even in Libraries in the Photoshop menu, my folder named 2015 Photos is missing, but everything else in that section (Libraries --> Pictures) is there, including 2012 Photos, 2013 Photos, and 2014 Photos. Aputernut, going that route the photo folders are not visible to me. I checked the Settings to make sure recently used files/folders aren't hidden, and they weren't. I didn't ask W10 to make any changes whatsoever. The photo option I referred to able was an app it wanted to add, and I refused. Windows 7 didn't mess with my photos, and I didn't want to "improve" on that. I'm not concerned that I've lost these pictures; I have them backed up, and I'm pretty sure they're still on the computer; I just can't get to them.
