More terrible than the brick are the toadstool shrubs and rock "mulch." I'd start ripping that out. Is your siding vinyl are you replacing it or planning to paint it? Are you due to replace the roof or is that staying? The garage door appears a bit purplish on my monitor. Take pix until you get one that accurately represents what you're seeing in person. Take that to a better paint store like Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams and have them help you with the right colors to work with your brick. It looks to be in great condition, and the right color for your siding and trim is important.Once they find a few colors you want to try, buy sample pots and big white poster board to paint samples on. Move them around under the porch, in the sun and shade, maybe at dusk, to see how the colors will look at your location and against your brick.

I like the current color much better than any others that have been shown. Replace the iron posts with white wood posts, paint the door/stormdoor a dark red, and get professional landscaping. Your lovely home will shine!

I really like that gold green-- has something in common or just blends so well with your brick which is a higher quality, even if the shades/tones, don't appeal to you. And Making the garage door and porch posts the same shade will help, if you don't want to replace the porch posts at this time. Don't make you home look like 3 separate entities, I think. You could paint the porch posts the tone similar to the lightest value in your brick, or even white, given the roof of the porch. The garage door is very very nice one. I think painting it the same green gold, would balance the green gold in the top photo of that example above, also. Than, I would run out and get one or 2 yellow earth rose bushes for near the front edge of your beds, and maybe some yellow and even sage green porch cushions for new furniture there, and bring in some white Rose of Sharon bushes too for nearer the garage corner, or abelia, or whatever white flowering shrub works in your area, and than blend the good ideas above in --and I think you would no longer even notice the color of your brick, it would look so different. A nice new garage wall light would be very pretty too, in the same tone as you paint your porch iron posts, or in a shape or metal tone that fits your budget and your style. Very pretty home!!

Dana Samardzich - I would keep the trim color the same as your window frames. Most of your landscape will work fine as well. Just replace the groomed shrubs with a wilder look plant in the rocks. Depending on where you live. Desert grasses.

By the way, spring just came to the midwest and it's slow going!

Alot of people probably agree with Chloe, but I still think if you can have a green lawn next too a home, the color of the gold/green is a way to bring a bit more color to the home and it blends well, and gives you a way to bring at least a bit of another hue into the home structure. <James Hardie Lap Siding Mountain Sage, Tuscon Gold Straight Edge Shake, Kirkwood MO> This is not a link, but if you type this into a search bar on your computer, you will see a home that has 2 shades of siding. I think it closely resembles the shade of your brick, the white windows you have, and the Sage green color that is complimentery to your home. However, as this is a brick home, I think the way the light reflects off the brick allows you to use the Green gold color that was posted above, with nearly the same result, because the white bricks do not make your house as dark as if it was all the gold color in your bricks. Either way, you will see this home, which has the Tuscon gold color on the upper eave of it and the Mountain Sage on the first story and 2nd story, with white windows which you have. This home has black shutters. With the varied materials of brick, siding, windows, garage door, porch covered, I don't think your home needs shutters at all. But it does show, that if you wanted too, I think your existing porch iron work could be painted black...but your garage and your 2nd story should be the same color of green. Good luck. This would be the 3rd house from the left. Now I see you have the fabric color close too or near a sage green in your curtains, it appears on your lower level. That is one way to see how nice that hue, or the gold green hue(again, because of your lighter color bricks too)would look very nice on your home exterior.

It won't be ten grand to redo the landscape by the house. Dig those puppies out yourselves, then fill in with more rock and some myoporum or thyme or whatever groundcover grows where you are. You really don't need anything else near the house. The rest of your yard is lovely and has plenty of interest.

I agree with groveraxle regarding the landscape. Just dig out those groomed shrubs and get a couple of either brush type plants or just some groundcover. Leave the rocks and lawn as it is.
