How much space between wall ovens and fridge?
Comments (6)gizmonike and rhome410 Thank you both very much for your valuable insights. A picture (or two) is worth more than 1000 words in this case. What a gorgeous setup. Thanks also for the advice about the handles. With kids, I can just imagine the dents! Adults are always perfect, right?? I also appreciate the list of tips, some of which I have also gleaned from this wonderful site, including the big single sink and induction. Now I also have the pegboard idea from your photos. I'm going right out to buy some blue tape, and I'll look up a thread here on Batch garbage disposals. If I get smart, I may even post some progress photos....See MoreHow much space should there be between fridge and wall?
Comments (10)... in any case, once you start shaving off space down to the thickness of a couple fingers, what really counts is air circulation, heat and humidity in the air (A/C on all the time or not), and where the heat pipes are underneath the metal cladding of Your Chosen fridge. To get fresh air to flow around it and to give the air an exit path too, it would make sense to put a mini fan (the size of what you see inside a PC) somewhere under the cabinets, without any kickplate either. The manufacturers won't help you because they don't want to discuss how close is just barely close enough and not too much -- and they wouldn't want to start saying that arid climate dwellers have a bit more freedom to squeeze the fridge and humid climate dwellers have to leave more space... If you build the fridge into an airtight plastic bag, it will fail as a fridge because its heat will be retained in the bag surrounding it. Same thing for a smaller and smaller space, you just end up heating the material surrounding it. I know the small LG has a lot of its heat pipes in the front sides near the door gasket, adn this is mentioned in its online PDF. Someone posted here how it still manages to work even after he built it into a tight space and had it practically "plug" the space. It's a 24" wide fridge. Comments (17)Pitchers, vases, water bottles, Christmas cookie containers, etc. Our napkins & trivets are also store there since the refrigerator is right next to the DR where we eat all our meals. Our cabinet isn't nearly as tall as Holligator's. In fact we have no shelf in it. It's only as tall as our Tupperware 2qt pitchers are + 2 or 3 inches. Here's a pic (the cookie containers are now in the back...this was taken during Christmas when they had cookies in them...so they had to be accessible! Napkins must have been on the table since they're not in this pic.) For tray/platter/griddle storage, we used the cabinet over the ovens. It's the same depth but taller. The items are also lower to the floor so easily accessed. To get an item on the shelf, you only need to grasp it by its bottom corner, so it's not an issue where the top of the items are....See MoreHow much space b/w ovens and fridge side by side?
Comments (11)No, I don't have 12" to spare. Especially if I put ovens and fridge together. I was trying a different pantry configuration suggested by Bmore to try to keep from losing 12" for corner pantry framing. If I move the pantry to rectangular shape and put fridge/ovens together, I'm already losing 6". Can't afford to lose yet another 12" for a total of 18". Maybe losing just 12" to corner pantry framing is better? More thinking to do tomorrow. I'm wondering if the pics I see of ovens next to fridges are situated with single-door fridge opening away from ovens. That would make sense. I just haven't paid attention cuz I didn't think that would be me!...See Moretqtqtbw
