How much space between wall ovens and fridge?
Comments (6)gizmonike and rhome410 Thank you both very much for your valuable insights. A picture (or two) is worth more than 1000 words in this case. What a gorgeous setup. Thanks also for the advice about the handles. With kids, I can just imagine the dents! Adults are always perfect, right?? I also appreciate the list of tips, some of which I have also gleaned from this wonderful site, including the big single sink and induction. Now I also have the pegboard idea from your photos. I'm going right out to buy some blue tape, and I'll look up a thread here on Batch garbage disposals. If I get smart, I may even post some progress photos....See MoreHow much space should I leave between wall and vanity?
Comments (2)do you have any picture you can show by fitting a 72" on a 90" space? Do you put anything to the left and right of the vanity?...See MoreHow much space should there be between top of range and hood?
Comments (6)The canopy wants to trap the rising smoke/vapor/greaseparticles, which we call "effluent" for short, and the effluent column expands as it rises. What that means is that as you increase the vertical gap between the stovetop and canopy, you need a wider and deeper canopy to get the same amount of effluent capture. You may also need a little more cfm. If not, as Momto says, some of the effluent escapes. How worried you are about that will depend partly on your cooking. If you do a lot of wok cooking and meat-searing, I'd be more worried about effluent capture. Also how close the kitchen is to the rest of the house, how sensitive people are to odors, how often you want to wash your walls etc. A lot of folks go for 30" or less vertical distance to get good capture, and say that they soon learn not to bump their heads. I went for a canopy just above my 6' height, but with 12" overlap on either side of the cooktop and a 9-inch bump-out from the wall. You will find *lots* of discussions of hood height if you search the appliances forum, as well as cfm and other issues. For example, makeup air is essential if you are venting a 60" Wolf, and will have a lot to do with how effective your ventilation is. This is new to a lot of people......See MoreHow much space should I leave between door's casing and a wall corner?
Comments (14)From a door function standpoint, leave 4" minimum from the corner. This gives you enough space so that the door can open 90 degrees without having the door lever hit the wall. 6" is also common too. You don't want to leave too much space or you are just wasting usable wall and floor space in your room. However, from a maintenance and aesthetic standpoint do head bpath's advice above. The trim should either leave at least 3/4" to 1" wall reveal from the corner or be right up against the adjacent wall. leaving a small space is going to result in an awkward strip of wall color and will be difficult to maintain going forward. In our current house we have a few of these conditions where it is tight between the casing and corner. The last owner wallpapered and we have had extreme difficulty getting old wallpaper out of these corners. In some cases the trim had to be taken off to get good paint and stain coverage on them too....See Moreswampwiz
